That's a wrap for today then.

A memorable one-off result for Wales, even if it didn't lead to greater things in competitive action.

What a few months it was for Terry Yorath's side: a win against Germany followed by a first victory over the great and glamorous Brazil.

Sorry for the spoiler but Wales did not win in Germany a month after this game.

In fact, they were thrashed 4-1 in Nuremberg.

That proved a decisive blow to Welsh hopes of qualifying for Euro 1992, with Terry Yorath's side finishing an agonising one point behind group winners Germany.

In those days, it was only the top side who qualified and the long wait for Wales to play at a major tournament went on once more.

Make that a double!

Two global powers beaten in successive games.

In June, Germany went home with tails between their legs – now Brazil have followed suit.

This truly is an encouraging time for Terry Yorath’s burgeoning Wales side.

No Ian Rush. No problem – Dean Saunders’ predatory instincts provided the winning moment after Gary Speed’s aerial strength caused chaos on a deft cross from promising debutant Mark Pembridge.

The game was by no means a classic. That match itself will not live long in the memory. But a first ever win over Brazil will be forever etched in Welsh football’s history books.

It’s now one defeat in eight for Terry Yorath’s side, fine form with which to take into next month’s decisive European Championship clash against a Germany team thirsting for revenge. Can’t wait!

Because that's it! This game is all over!

Wales have done it, they have held on for a famous, famous win.

Friendly or not, Wales have now beaten two three-time World Cup winners in the space of three months.

What a time for Welsh football.

We are deep into stoppage time and Dean Saunders beats the offside flag and he must score and he doesn't! Claudio Taffarel saves...

But hold the phone....

Brazil win a corner as we head into stoppage time.

Forget what I said about Wales needing a chance to fall to Mark Hughes.

Glyn Hodges just picked a magical pass to split the Brazilian defence and send Hughes clear, but one-on-one with Claudio Taffarel he fired wide of goal aiming for the bottom corner.

It definitely should be 2-0.

Cleber looks like he's hauled down Dean Saunders there and the National Stadium howls for a penalty, but there is nothing doing with the Spanish referee unmoved.

That's certainly a penalty in 2020.

Portmouth's Gavin Maguire comes on for Kevin Ratcliffe as Wales make their final change.

Bebeto’s had a relatively quiet game for Brazil, so no chance so far to see what he might have up his sleeve if he was to score.

It’s a point of interest because the forward, sixth in Brazil’s all-time list of goal scorers, is almost as famous for his celebrations as he is for his playing achievements.

Having top-scored for Brazil as they were crowned 1989 Copa America champions in 1989, Bebeto was on fire with his strike partner Romario as Brazil won the 1994 World Cup.

He also caught the eye with his goal celebration where he rocked an imaginary baby after scoring against the Netherlands – because his wife had given birth to their third child just days before.

Bebeto’s team-mates joined in, and many players have mimicked the celebration since. A pioneer.

Brazil carved Wales open there.

Joao Paulo, the unluckiest of the "and he never played again brigade," on this showing, teased his way through the Welsh defence and freed Jorginho, but his weak shot was easy for Neville Southall to save low to his right.

It'a a massive let-off.

Wales almost double their lead and that one would have come gift wrapped.

Cleber's backpass is all kinds of terrible and Dean Saunders is on it like a flash and able to round goalkeeper Claudio Taffarel.

The angle was tight and with increasing traffic in the six yard box with players scrambling back, Saunders' shoot from an acute angle was just wide of the post.

That probably fell to the wrong Wales striker, because Mark Hughes is the master at those kinds of finishes.

Jorginho puts over a superb cross but Andy Melville heads it behind.

From the corner Marzinho shoots from the edge of the box and the ball almost falls to Bebeto, but Kevin Ratcliffe is alert to the danger.

Friendly or not, Wales are ten minutes away from a famous win.

Mark Hughes almost releases Dean Saunders, but his pass is just over hit.

Sheffield United's Glyn Hodges is coming on in place of Colin Pascoe.

Brazil have made all of their changes, but Wales still have one change left if they wish.

To the international wilderness goes Geovani.

Mazinho comes on in his place. That's the other Mazinho, Mazinho II, the forward, rather than the industrious midfielder who played 35 times and was a member of the 1994 World Cup squad.

No, this is the Marzinho that, guess what? Never again plays for Brazil after this match.

And Brazil missed the free-kick while I was wittering on, Joao Paulo curling just wide with Neville Southall rooted to the spot.
