Almost the opener for England as Darren Anderton's corner finds Alan Shearer unmarked in the middle of the box and the striker's powerful volley is cleared off the line.

Gary Neville charges down the flank before his cross is deflected behind for the first corner of the game...

Now England come forward as Gareth Southgate drives through the middle before playing a neat ball wide to Darren Anderton. The midfielder swings the ball to the far post but it is slightly over hit and goes out of play.
