Being 0-0 at half-time is very much on trend for Project: Restart by the way.

It's a hard game to call. It's very close. Both teams are having good spells. Looking at the form of the teams from earlier in the season it's not looking like it'll be a goal-fest.

I must admit I'd forgotten that Joelinton was a £40m signing. You could have got Timo Werner for a bit more...

OK, I know he wouldn't have gone for it but you catch my drift.

Liz Tray: £40m. One goal in 29 games. I've seen some bad strikers in my time but Joelinton has to be up there.

Michael Hamilton: Just a thought.... But has anyone tried just telling Joelinton that EVERY GAME is an FA Cup match?

Two of Joelinton's three goals this season have come in the cup.

Joelinton and John Egan now go head-to-head after a disagreement. Maybe that's what the number nine needs.

    It's a booking apiece.

Miguel Almiron scampers down the side of John Egan and they have a right old tussle. Almiron ends up on the deck, there was a shirt being held, no penlaty given...

No VAR intervention either. Six of one?

If Newcastle had a proper number nine they wouldn't be in the bottom half. I'm not blaming Joelinton but if that chance drops to a good finisher it's a definite goal. If that's Billy Sharp - it's in.

Joelinton's only Premier League goal came in the 27th minute of Newcastle's 1-0 victory at Tottenham Hotspur on 25 August. He has had 34.5 hours of Premier League playing time since that goal.

He has failed to score with his last 38 shots in the league.

Cracking effort! From the resumption the Blades come down their right, George Baldock whips in a cross and Billy Sharp takes on an acrobatic over-the-shoulder effort, volleying just over.

    Good strike that man.

Drinks break! That Jonjo Shelvey shot hit the arm of John Egan but there wasn't even a sniff of a penalty appeal.

Joelinton may be a massive flop but not every Toon signing has been duff, Allan Saint-Maximin has had a fine few minutes. He started the counter for that Joelinton scuff and now he nips in to win the ball back and set up Jonjo Shelvey for a big hit, which is well charged down.

It was Miguel Almiron who played Joelinton in for that chance. Superb pass.

Almiron has got to get on the ball more behind the Sheffield United midfield. There's areas of the park where Newcastle can exploit. It's an interesting game this.

    I spoke too soon!

Joelinton is in on goal, behind the Blades defence after a fine counter-attack.

He's wide left, Dean Henderson is out and it's not simple but...he kicks the floor and falls over.

    Clown finishing.

Not sure Joelinton has actually done anything worthy of critique yet today...

That's super hold-up play from Billy Sharp though to get the visitors moving again.

David Ljunggren: This is going to be Groundhog Day forever for Newcastle fans, isn’t it? No matter what we do to improve our lives and become better people, we’re going to watch the game and hear the commentators say “Joelinton made a mess of that” and “No sign of Newcastle scoring”

Femi John Atoyebi: Today’s Premier League football coming from 3 different Parks - St. James', Villa & Goodison. What are the odds of all 3 ending in away wins?

Collectors' item here, a terrible pass from Ollie Norwood plays Shefiiled United into bother. Miguel Almiron is well tackled but the ball runs to Matt Ritchie, and his powerful shot is swerving in until Dean Henderson flies to his left and pushes it out.

    Manchester United's next top model?

  19. CLOSE!published at 11 mins

It had been all Sheffield United but just like that Newcastle are in. Javier Manquillo breaks the coverage on the right, he has Joelinton in the middle and his cross is well cut out.

There's an almighty scramble from the corner, before Allan Saint-Maximin puts in a dangerous ball that was crying out for a touch.

    Superb from the winger!

Oli McBurnie drops into the pocket and plays a cracking pass through to Sander Berge, he just can't quite gather it in though.

Much was expected from the big man and he looked a bit off it I thought in the pre-lockdown games he played. Got everything though hasn't he? Massive.
