In normal circumstances Goodison would be rammed with 40,000 fans for this eagerly-awaited fixture. The Gwladys Street looks huge with no one in it - and very lonely.

Everton striker Richarlison stirred the pot before the game when he had the audacity to suggest Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk might not be the world's best defender.

The Brazilian has been in the action with a chance, a couple of decent runs, as well being fouled in a clash that brought a yellow card for James Milner.

Noise levels and energy levels high from both Everton and Liverpool. Fabinho was very fortunate to escape a yellow card for a very late challenge on Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Better by the Reds as they swarm midfield before launching an attack which ends with Takumi Minamino lashing wide. That was a lightning quick break and Everton were almost caught out.
