  1. YELLOW CARDpublished at 43 mins

    Everton 0-0 Liverpool

That's a great run by Sadio Mane but he's cynically chopped down in full flight by Michael Keane which results in another Reds free-kicks.

No doubt about it - that's a booking.

Moments later Trent Alexander-Arnold forces a rare save from Jordan Pickford from a free-kick.

  2. Someone's calling the tunepublished at 41 mins

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Goodison Park

There is a very talented saxophonist somewhere around here and the silence is helping - we've had a blast of "Z Cars" and a very tasty "Love Will Tear Us Apart."

    Mark Lawrenson
Ex-Liverpool defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

It's been an intriguing game, not a great one. Apart from that Matip header there's not been much to talk about.

A perfect summery of this half, Lawro.

  4. Postpublished at 38 mins

    Everton 0-0 Liverpool

Lovely stuff by Anthony Gordon as the teenager goes on a run and tries to tee up Richarlison only for Virgil van Dijk to get in the way before any damage can be done. Gordon looks at a decent prospect.

    Everton 0-0 Liverpool

No doubt about it, this is starting to bubble nicely.

Another Liverpool counter offers a chance for Roberto Firmino but he drags his attempt wide of the post.

The Brazilian lets at a yelp in frustration. It's been that kind of game so far.

  7. Postpublished at 32 mins

    Everton 0-0 Liverpool

This derby is finally coming to life.

A header by Richarlison from an Everton free-kick is just wide but was there an offside? That was a decent attempt by Richarlison who has been putting himself about.

  8. Postpublished at 30 mins

    Everton 0-0 Liverpool

Another Liverpool free-kick and this time it's a decent delivery by Trent Alexander-Arnold for Joel Matip but the defender's header is wide.

    That was a free header!

One effort on target so far in half an hour.

    Everton 0-0 Liverpool

In normal circumstances Goodison would be rammed with 40,000 fans for this eagerly-awaited fixture. The Gwladys Street looks huge with no one in it - and very lonely.

Everton striker Richarlison stirred the pot before the game when he had the audacity to suggest Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk might not be the world's best defender.

The Brazilian has been in the action with a chance, a couple of decent runs, as well being fouled in a clash that brought a yellow card for James Milner.

    Everton 0-0 Liverpool

    Mark Lawrenson
Ex-Liverpool defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Liverpool have had more of the play without creating anything really. It's all been in front of Everton but it's pretty even at the minute.

  12. Postpublished at 23 mins

    Everton 0-0 Liverpool

Neither Alisson or Jordan Pickford have had anything to do of any note and we're midway through the first half. A cagey Merseyside derby so far as play is stopped for a drinks break - as the rain continues to pour.

  13. ouch!

    YELLOW CARDpublished at 21 mins

    Welcome back James Milner!

The Reds player goes in hard on Richarlison and the Brazilian feels that one!

    A yellow for Milner.

Minamino is busy isn't he? He needs to stand still at times. He works hard and comes extremely deep.

Ar Vind: Ironically no crowd might suit Everton. They can play with less pressure.

  16. Postpublished at 17 mins

    Everton 0-0 Liverpool

A shocking cross by Andre Gomes after a promising attack which started with Richarlison charging forward. Not a lot going on in terms of clear cut chances.

  17. Postpublished at 14 mins

    Everton 0-0 Liverpool

Since Jurgen Klopp became Liverpool's manager, Everton have failed to score in all three Premier League Merseyside derbies at Goodison Park. Will that change?

  18. Postpublished at 13 mins

    Everton 0-0 Liverpool

Free-kick to Liverpool in a decent position. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Jordan Henderson are standing over the ball but it's a poor set-piece by the young full-back as it drifts harmlessly out of play. Liverpool are looking a touch rusty.

  19. Lively start at Evertonpublished at 11 mins

    Everton 0-0 Liverpool

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Goodison Park

Noise levels and energy levels high from both Everton and Liverpool. Fabinho was very fortunate to escape a yellow card for a very late challenge on Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

  20. Postpublished at 10 mins

    Everton 0-0 Liverpool

Better by the Reds as they swarm midfield before launching an attack which ends with Takumi Minamino lashing wide. That was a lightning quick break and Everton were almost caught out.
