  1. goal

GOAL - Newcastle 1-0 Aston Villapublished at 19:28 British Summer Time 24 June 2020

    Dwight Gayle (68 mins)

    A goal in every game!

It's super-sub Andy Carroll with the assist as he fires a low ball into the box from the right touchline.

He was almost falling over when he delivered it too and Dwight Gayle finishes it off by putting it through the keeper's legs.

Lovely. This game deserved a goal! It wasn't the dull 0-0 it threatened to be for a while.

    Norwich 0-1 Everton

Teemu Pukki is on. Your team needs you! He hasn't scored any of his last 28 shots in the Premier League.

  3. YELLOW CARDpublished at 19:27 British Summer Time 24 June 2020

    Man Utd 2-0 Sheffield United

Luke Shaw brings down John Lundstram as Sheffield United try to counter down the right. Naughty.

  4. Postpublished at 19:27 British Summer Time 24 June 2020

    Wolves 1-0 Bournemouth

Adama Traore and Raul Jimenez have combined for 10 Premier League goals this season.

That's the most of any duo in the Premier League and just the seventh different partnership to manage at least 10 in a single campaign in the competition.

  5. SUBSTITUTIONSpublished at 19:27 British Summer Time 24 June 2020

    Wolves 1-0 Bournemouth

Bournemouth have got to sort this out and they make a triple change - on come Danjuma, Harry Wilson and Solanke for Brooks, Lerma and Stanislas.

Villa’s tempo hasn’t been there in the second half like in the first. Dean Smith might be starting to think about changes because there’s definitely something in this game for them.

  7. Postpublished at 19:26 British Summer Time 24 June 2020

    Man Utd 2-0 Sheffield United

All very comfortable for Manchester United, this. Chris Wilder is pulling his hair out. He said before the match he and his team 'needed to show off a little more' but they haven't done that tonight. If anything, the hosts are after a third.

  8. CLOSE!published at 19:26 British Summer Time 24 June 2020

    Norwich 0-1 Everton

Great chance! Should be two. Alex Iwobi's cross from the right is perfect this time, Dominic Calvert-Lewin is free and heads it down - bit wide.

For all the chatter of playing for England etc, he's got to score chances like that.

BrabbleBrabble: Buendia and Pukki are far too good to stay in the Championship with Norwich. Hopefully they can join someone who actually wants to score goals. Would be a shame to lose them both. Jamal Lewis is also exceptional - he's surely got a 'premier' future ahead of him.

  11. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 19:24 British Summer Time 24 June 2020

    Newcastle 0-0 Aston Villa

Andy Carroll is on for Joelinton. He's been pretty lively for Newcastle tonight but can Carroll provide the midas touch?

  12. Postpublished at 19:23 British Summer Time 24 June 2020

    Man Utd 2-0 Sheffield United

Absolutely mesmirising stuff from Paul Pogba. Wonderful footwork to dance past several challenges, almost setting up a worldie of a goal for Mason Greenwood.

The youngster can't provide the finish but that was simply stunning from Pogba.

As I said, zonal marking must be good for something. Maybe I only notice zonal marking when it goes wrong. But it fells like it does a lot.

  14. CLOSE!published at 19:22 British Summer Time 24 June 2020

    Newcastle 0-0 Aston Villa

Nice move from Villa. Ezri Konsa passes one, then two defenders before Danny Rose comes across, sliding, to make an excellent block in the box.

Brilliant defending. Always weird not seeing him in a Spurs shirt, still.

Former Everton midfielder on MOTDx Watchalong

I scored a few goals from a few corners and each time I did, it was due to zonal marking. If you have a man on you, it's hard to get away as it was a fight but with a zonal marking, it gave me a chance to get in between the lines, meet the ball where it needed to be and score.

  17. goal

GOAL - Wolves 1-0 Bournemouthpublished at 19:20 British Summer Time 24 June 2020

    Raul Jimenez (60 mins)

Wowzers! No guesses for how this goal came about, it's a carbon copy of the opener from the weekend.

Adama Traore is doubled up on, it makes no odds as he takes a touch, sprints past them both and stands up a lovely, lovely coss.

Raul Jimenez clambers over two defenders to meet it with a header that fair flies into the roof of the net.

    Brilliant combo.

    Newcastle 0-0 Aston Villa

    Neil Lennon
    Celtic manager on 5 Live

Allan Saint-Maximin is just magnificent. Magnificent strength, control but he just let himself down with the finish. The attributes that he’s got, if he can polish them off, he’d be a brilliant player. He’s great to watch.

  19. YELLOW CARDpublished at 19:19 British Summer Time 24 June 2020

    Newcastle 0-0 Aston Villa

Jamaal Lascelles pulls back Jack Grealish, who just won't ever give away possession. He did make a bit of a meal of it but Villa were on the attack.

    Into the book goes Lascelles...

  20. Postpublished at 19:18 British Summer Time 24 June 2020

    Newcastle 0-0 Aston Villa

Allan Saint-Maximin is full of legs. He dances his way through to the edge of the box and smashes a powerful effort towards the top right corner.

It just lifts at the end and flies over the bar.
