Would Ollie Watkins be a handful in the Premier League with the form he's shown so far this season? Can Wayne Rooney still do a job in the top flight for a side?

George Puscas scores a penaltyImage source, Rex Features

George Puscas' early penalty separate the sides at The Valley but Charlton were the team on top just before the break and should have been level after a couple of good efforts.

It's been a good half of football from both sides.

  5. HALF-TIMEpublished at 13:19 British Summer Time 11 July 2020

    Derby County 1-1 Brentford

That's the interval at Pride Park.

Ben Hamer makes a comfortable injury time save from Said Benrahma's left-foot effort.

Brentford were out of the blocks quickly with Ollie Watkins' goal but then Derby rallied and got rewarded for hanging in there with Jason Knight's leveller.

    Still all to play for.

Half-time approaching and after the fast start to this one, it has gone more into its shell now.

Brentford always seem determined though to take the positive option when presented while Derby know they need to keep their shape.

    Derby County 1-1 Brentford

Derby continue to take the game to Brentford and some energetic pressing from Tom Lawrence, Chris Martin and Louie Sibley sees Sibley find some space to get a shot away.

Left-foot effort from just outside the penalty box goes flying high and wide, but they have definitely had the ascendancy in this one since the drinks break.

    Charlton 0-1 Reading

Another chance for Charlton as Jason Pearce heads over from Josh Cullen's corner.

Addicks boss Lee Bowyer will be happy with his side so far but he must be thinking how they are still a goal down.

  9. CLOSE!published at 13:05 British Summer Time 11 July 2020

    Charlton 0-1 Reading

Charlton are the better team since the drinks break.

Aiden McGeady puts in the cross for Macauley Bonne who hits a clipped volley just past the far post.

Great chance and should have been the leveller.

Derby celebrate their equaliserImage source, Rex Features

That Derby equaliser has teed this one up rather nicely then.

Phillip Cocu visibly relieved to see his team back on level terms as they looked like they wouldn't get anywhere near the ball in the opening 15 minutes.

  11. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 13:02 British Summer Time 11 July 2020

    Charlton 0-1 Reading

Charlton have the ball in the net as Chuks Aneke follows up Rafael Cabral's save from Aiden McGeady but the flag is up.

    Jason Knight (29 mins)

    Well now....

Didn't quite see this coming after Brentford's fast start but full credit to Derby who have got the reward for hanging in there.

Pressure and quick movement forces them into the area and composure from Wayne Rooney no less sees him square the ball into the on-running Jason Knight to slot home right-footed.

Too hot for David Raya to handle in the Brentford goal.

    Derby County 0-1 Brentford

Louie Sibley is doing his best to try and instigate some chances for Derby.

A lung-busting run down the right wing from the teenager sadly comes to an end as the ball just nips away from him under pressure from Rico Henry.

Brentford's high press also limited the Rams to space to move the ball around.

    Almost half an hour gone.

  14. Postpublished at 12:57 British Summer Time 11 July 2020

    Charlton 0-1 Reading

Drinks break at the Valley and both sides have had decent efforts since the early goal.

Yakou Meite had a header but it was straight into the arms of Dillon Phillips and Chuks Aneke also had a header for the Addicks but it flew over from Adedeji Oshilaja's cross.

  15. Postpublished at 12:53 British Summer Time 11 July 2020

    Derby County 0-1 Brentford

Good response from Derby who are seeing more of the ball now.

Chris Martin hits a well-struck left-foot drive from 30 yards out.

It was always rising though but David Raya had to be alert in Brentford's goal to parry that one to safety.

Charlton v ReadingImage source, Rex Features

Charlton keeping posession well and offer a few threats, skipper Jason Pearce has a header just over while Tyler Blackett fires over for Reading from an early cross.

Good pace to this game so far.

  17. Postpublished at 12:47 British Summer Time 11 July 2020

    Derby County 0-1 Brentford

Brentford escape being punished for a sloppy back pass that gave away a corner.

Max Bird can't find the target as the ball breaks to him on the edge of the penalty area.

    High and wide it goes.

  18. Postpublished at 12:44 British Summer Time 11 July 2020

    Derby County 0-1 Brentford

Such control and confidence from Brentford when they have the ball.

Good link-up play down the left eventually finds Bryan Mbeumo in the Derby penalty area and he fancies curling one in with his left foot but there's a timely block from the head of Derby centre-back Matt Clarke.

The Rams yet to get a look in after 12 minutes.

  19. Postpublished at 12:40 British Summer Time 11 July 2020

    Charlton 0-1 Reading

Reading have started very well, some very neat passes being played. Charlton are having a good go at the Royals since going a goal down mind.

    Good stuff early doors.

  20. Postpublished at 12:39 British Summer Time 11 July 2020

    Derby County 0-1 Brentford

Just to remind you, Brentford only need a point today to secure their play-off place but that start suggests they're hungry for much more.
