  1. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 70 mins

    Bulgaria 1-0 Republic of Ireland

A change - an almost unrecognisable Robbie Brady comes on to replace James McCarthy.

  2. Postpublished at 21:11 British Summer Time 3 September 2020

A quite incredible 68-minute wait for our first TV mention of Yordan Letchkov.

  3. Postpublished at 66 mins

    Bulgaria 1-0 Republic of Ireland

More good play from Aaron Connolly who's had a better night than most, he finds Jeff Hendrick who just can't make the requisite space for a shot on goal. Tough times out there - still just the two efforts on goal for the Republic all night. Still no change.

  4. Postpublished at 63 mins

    Bulgaria 1-0 Republic of Ireland

John Egan tries a shot from a mile out and it tests Georgi Georgiev in the Bulgaria goal but he hangs on. Changes afoot?

  5. Postpublished at 62 mins

    Germany 1-0 Spain

It's turning into the Timo Werner show in Stuttgart.

A lovely attack by Germany ends in Leroy Sane producing a killer pass but Werner can't wrap his foot around it enough and it flies into the side-netting.

Nice attempt. Spain were completely undone by that attack.

  6. CLOSE!published at 60 mins

    Bulgaria 1-0 Republic of Ireland

Terrific ball in. Aaron Connolly has been a livewire for the Republic wide on the left all night and after beatting his man he flashes in a great ball, right across goal and it just needs a touch. Nobody there though.

  7. CLOSE!published at 59 mins

    Germany 1-0 Spain

That's more like it from Rodrigo.

He's wasted a couple of really good chances but the new Leeds United man shows excellent skill to get a shot away which narrowly sails over Germany's bar.

GOAL - Bulgaria 1-0 Republic of Irelandpublished at 20:59 British Summer Time 3 September 2020

    Bozhidar Kraev (56 mins)

What a good piece of striking play to open up this tight game. The Republic centre-backs are too far apart after a switched ball and Todor Nedelev has the vision to pick out Bozhidar Kraev in the gap.

He's in on goal and stabs a shot through the legs of Darren Randolph and in.

    Finland 0-0 Wales

    Dafydd Pritchard
    BBC Sport Wales

Ryan Giggs did say Gareth Bale was not fit enough to play 90 minutes twice in four days so his half-time withdrawal is not a surprise, but is it a sign of things to come if he doesn't leave Real Madrid and continues to turn up for Wales undercooked?

You can follow that game here.

  10. Postpublished at 52 mins

    Bulgaria 0-0 Republic of Ireland

A shot on target! Aaron Connolly is sniffing about from a nod on and the Brighton youngster swivels to get a shot in. A defender gets a piece of it to take some of the sting out of it but the keeper still has to make a save. A decent attempt.

  11. goal

    Timo Werner

    TIMO WERNER!

Chelsea's new signing shows just why the Blues have shelled out £54m for his services with a classy low finish past David de Gea.

Werner has been quiet for long spells but that was a lovely finish and Germany are in the driving seat.

  12. Postpublished at 49 mins

    Bulgaria 0-0 Republic of Ireland

The first effort in the second half is a decent one from Todor Nedelev, a big swinging free-kick from range that Darren Randolph has to dive to keep out.

  13. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 45 mins

    Germany 0-0 Spain

Big moment for 17-year-old Ansu Fati who comes on at the start of the second half for Spain. Will the exciting Barcelona winger make an impact in Stuttgart? We're back under way.

  14. KICK-OFFpublished at 45 mins

And we're back up and running.

Plenty of subs warming up during the interval - we are back down to three subs allowed per game now (I think).

    Andy Brassell

Even if any sort of judgement in this situation is unfair, neither Germany or Spain doing much to dispel the feeling they shouldn't be among the Euro favourites. A good evening so far for De Gea though, who has looked very convincing at the start of a big season for him.

  19. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:32 British Summer Time 3 September 2020

    Germany 0-0 Spain

Another big chance for Rodrigo as he gets behind Germany's defence and does well to stay on his feet before getting his shot away.

It's blocked by Kevin Trapp but Spain finish the half on top.

Eight shots - five on target - and one outstanding David de Gea save but it remains goalless in Stuttgart.

  20. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:31 British Summer Time 3 September 2020

    And that's the half.
