    Bulgaria 0-0 Republic of Ireland

Best football of the night from the visitors. Jeff Hendrick starts a counter attack in midfield and when Enda Stevens pulls the ball back Callum O'Dowda arrives on it but can only steer a shot wide. A really smart flowing attack.

  2. CLOSE!published at 41 mins

    Bulgaria 0-0 Republic of Ireland

That is a chance though! Conor Hourihane's cross from the left is a good one, it's missed in the middle and Matt Doherty comes on to it but heads over.

Can only assume he didn't see it until late.

    Germany 0-0 Spain

Ferran Torres is probably the pick of the new Premier League signings on show in Stuttgart.

The Spanish winger looks a real handful and has shown great awareness and a clean pair of heels to trouble Germany's defence.

Very little from Chelsea's Timo Werner so far while Torres' international team-mate Rodrigo, Leeds United's stellar signing of the summer, has missed his side's best chance.

    Bulgaria 0-0 Republic of Ireland

Well played Darren Randolph! One straight ball slices Ireland in half and Galin Ivanov can sprint in behind. Randolph comes haring out and makes the save/block just inside the penalty area. Well judged.

    Bulgaria 0-0 Republic of Ireland

Jeff Hendrick flicks it nicely into the run of Aaron Connolly, whose shot is brilliantly saved by Georgi Georgiev. The offside flag was up but credit where it's due, a cracking stop by the Cherno More keeper.

Ope: After 27mins, it was Bayern 4 Barcelona 1, that shows how boring the drab goalless draw between the two national sides (Germany & Spain) is at 28mins.

Matt Doherty may have got a move to a more traditional 'big' club but his name still isn't being pronounced correctly.

  9. CLOSE!published at 29 mins

    Germany 0-0 Spain

Ferran Torres' confidence levels are sky high.

Another Spanish attack ends in the winger letting fly from outside the penalty area.

It's a decent effort but it remains goalless in Stuttgart.

    Bulgaria 0-0 Republic of Ireland

A good minute - Matt Doherty almost plays in his man at the end of a sweeping Ireland move before Bulgaria counter, a huge crossfield pass picks out Todor Nedelev, who gets away from Enda Stevens and lifts a shot over Darren Randolph but over the top as well.

Adam Idah's got a tough gig on his hands for his international debut, as the ball is banged up to him and he's asked to bring it down. He's hounded out.

    Chances galore in Stuttgart.

David de Gea has made three fine saves, including one flying stop to keep out Leroy Sane, while new Leeds signing Rodrigo has missed a glorious opportunity.

The latest chance falls to Sergio Busquets after new Manchester City signing Ferran Torres, who is winning his first cap, won a free-kick.

Bulgaria are not very good. Stephen Kenny will be as pleased as he could be for his first 20-odd minutes in charge, given the circumstances and fitness etc.

    Germany 0-0 Spain

David de Gea is having a blinder!

Another flying save by the Manchester United keeper to keep out Leroy Sane.

    That was vintage De Gea.

Who was a more realistic Milan target, Gary Breen or Jeff Hendrick?

The new Newcastle man dummies the ball on the edge of the area but the Republic can't get a shot away.

    Germany 0-0 Spain

Eventful start in Germany where David de Gea has produced two fine saves to keeper out Thilo Kehrer and Julian Draxler.

Meanwhile, new Leeds signing Rodrigo has missed a glaring chance for Spain after confusion in the home defence. The winger had an open net but took one touch too many which allowed the hosts to clear.

    Bad miss!

  18. CLOSE!published at 14 mins

    Bulgaria 0-0 Republic of Ireland

    When playing out goes bad...

Bulgaria take a goal-kick short, badly, and it's won back by Aaron Connolly brilliantly on the left wing. The Brighton forward then jinks past the last man, he's into the area with a tight angle and curls it wide.

Could he have cut it back? You'll be surprised to learn that Mick McCarthy isn't a fan of faffing about with it back there.

    Finland 0-0 Wales

Slow going in Sofia so I'll tell you that Wales have had the ball in the net only to see it ruled out for a foul.

You can keep tabs on that game here.

    Bulgaria 0-0 Republic of Ireland

That's nice - Conor Hourihane runs on to a nice lay-off from Adam Idah and hits a rising strike on that left wand - it's always flying wide though. Good connection as you'd expect.
