Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer defiantly announced David de Gea was "the best goalkeeper in the world" when his credentials were questioned following one of numerous high-profile errors this season.

That was after De Gea somehow managed to fumble a routine shot from Steven Bergwijn into the net behind him in the 1-1 draw at Tottenham Hotspur in June.

As defences go, it was as unconvincing and flimsy as Manchester United's rearguard in this dismal 3-1 FA Cup semi-final defeat against Chelsea at Wembley, when De Gea's own horrendous display shot large holes in the credibility of Solskjaer's statement.

There is a large body of evidence to suggest De Gea is no longer the best keeper in Manchester never mind the world - he is certainly not the best in the Premier League.

The Brazilian pair of Ederson at Manchester City and Liverpool's Alisson are far more accomplished - and more significantly Dean Henderson, on loan at Sheffield United from Manchester United, has had a better season than De Gea.

There is a possibility only the top three would qualify for the Champions League - if the two major European club trophies are both won by English teams who finish outside this season's top four.

Why? Because there can be a maximum of five English teams in the Champions League.

So if Chelsea win the Champions League and Wolves win the Europa League - and neither finish in the top four (Chelsea and Manchester United cannot both finish outside the top four) - then both sides would qualify for next season's Champions League and fourth place in the Premier League would only earn a Europa League spot.

Everton hand a first Premier League start to 18-year-old defender Jarrad Branthwaite. The youngster impressed after coming off the bench in the 1-1 draw with Aston Villa.

Branthwaite, who replaces the injured Mason Holgate, is one of four changes for the Toffees with Gylfi Sigurdsson, Djibril Sidibe and Theo Walcott also starting.

Wolves head coach Nuno Espirito Santo may again rotate his squad in the wake of Wednesday's draw at Burnley.

Leander Dendoncker, Jonny and Pedro Neto are among the players hoping to earn recalls.

Crystal Palace left-back Patrick van Aanholt is set for a lengthy spell out with a dislocated shoulder.

Gary Cahill and James Tomkins remain sidelined, while Christian Benteke is banned and Luka Milivojevic could miss out with a knee problem.

If Aston Villa do that, I'll name my dog Jack Grealish.

(NB: For those of you who were introduced to Bruno when he pulled the TV wire out of my feed during a live text a few weeks ago, he is my sister's dog. Don't worry, I haven't disowned him, though I was tempted).

It's also worth pointing out that any result for Brighton tonight - whether that be a win or a draw - would ensure they are absolutely, mathematically safe.

They practically are already of course, because their goal difference is +11 more than Aston Villa, who would need to win both of their games and score 11 goals in the process without reply.

The teams who finish fifth and sixth will qualify for next season's Europa League (unless they win one of next month's European tournaments).

If the FA Cup winners finish in the top six, then seventh place in the Premier League would qualify for the Europa League. The team who qualify in the lowest league spot go into the second qualifying round.

FA Cup finalists Arsenal are currently 10th in the league.

Wolves will qualify for the Europa League if they win their final two games. It is out of their hands if they drop any points.

Sheffield United's defeat by Leicester means their hopes of qualifying for Europe for the first time are out of their hands. They need Wolves and/or Spurs to slip up.
