Chris Basham is having a stormer. He flashes another ball in from the right and Oliver McBurnie is there at the near post.

Michael Keane does well to get a foot in and make the block.

    Sheffield United 0-1 Everton

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is away in the box but the angle is tight. Gylfi Sigurdsson is free in the middle but the striker goes on his own, drawing a save from Dean Henderson, though it's a fairly comfortable one.

    Brighton 0-0 Newcastle

    Bit scrappy.

Neither team are keeping the ball. There's more players slipping over and tripping themselves up than anything.

Lucas Digne reacts to a rash tackle from Chris Basham. He thinks he's shown studs.

  8. CLOSE!published at 19:11 British Summer Time 20 July 2020

    Brighton 0-0 Newcastle

Miguel Almiron squeezes a shot away under pressure from Tariq Lamptey and Mat Ryan has to pull off a very smart save low to his left.

    Brighton 0-0 Newcastle

Allan Saint-Maximin is played in on the left and he has time to pick out a team-mate in the middle.

    His pass is poor.

A few moments later, he turns on the flashy skills to win a free-kick on the left which Dan Burn heads away.

  10. CLOSE!published at 19:08 British Summer Time 20 July 2020

    Sheffield United 0-1 Everton

Chris Basham makes a smart run on the right side of the box and stays onside. He cuts it back to David McGoldrick, who is under pressure to shoot from Tom Davies but Jarrad Branthwaite does well to get a block in. That had some power on it from McGoldrick and was definitely on target!

Great pace on the free-kick from Gylfi Sigurdsson and Richarlison used that to guide the ball into the corner.

That completely usurps anything we saw in that first half.

We will see what reaction Sheffield United have but that is a class goal.

  12. YELLOW CARDpublished at 19:07 British Summer Time 20 July 2020

    Brighton 0-0 Newcastle

Dwight Gayle tries to sprint away from Dale Stephens and gets caught on his heels. Another yellow.

The resulting free-kick is almost the exact same as Everton's but Gayle can't execute the header. He should have done better - he was relatively unmarked.

    Already better!!!

Gylfi Sigurdsson swings a lovely ball in from a free-kick on the right and Richarlison guides his header past Dean Henderson and into the far corner.

Great ball, great header and great start to the second half.

The most boring half of football I've seen Newcastle play since we drew 0-0 with Brighton at our place back in September
