They could very easily have found themselves level but now they have it all to do to deny Juventus a title-clinching victory.

It has become quite an open game now as Sampdoria chase a leveller that on the balance of things you'd say they probably do deserve.

That's allowing plenty of space for the likes of Adrien Rabiot and Cristiano Ronaldo to get into their stride however.

Juventus appear to have weathered a bit of a Sampdoria storm as Cristiano Ronaldo brings Juventus up field.

Fabio Depaoli puts his body on the line to block Ronaldo's attempt at goal before the Juve forward draws a good save from Emil Audero.

An excellent free-kick is whipped in by Gaston Ramirez, but as was the case for Juventus at the other end nobody can get on the end of it.

It forces Wojciech Szczesny to push it out for a corner though, and Ramirez is there to fire a header just beyond the back post.

Sampdoria are inching closer to an equaliser and Juve appear to have fallen asleep.

First half substitute Mehdi Leris is inches away from an equaliser as his cushioned header rolls narrowly past Wojciech Szczesny's post with the Juve keeper rooted to the spot.

A free-kick midway into the Sampdoria half for Juventus is whipped in beautifully by Miralem Pjanic but neither Cristiano Ronaldo nor Gonzalo Higuain can connect as the ball fizzes across the face of the goal.

Juventus begin the second half confidently and I'm not sure Sampdoria have actually seen the ball in the opening couple of minutes.

They'll have been told to get the job done quickly, no doubt, and avoid the late nerves that seem to have been getting to them of late.
