  1. Can Gerrard avoid away-day blues?published at 16:27 British Summer Time 16 August 2020

    Livingston v Rangers (16:30)

This is Rangers' first away trip since being knocked out of last season's Europa League by Bayer Leverkusen.

But Steven Gerrard's side have bounced back from that to record two convincing home wins and they have scored seven times in three consecutive domestic victories.

I saw Lyndon Dykes play against Rangers and he terrorised their defenders. If I am a Rangers defender looking at the team sheet, I would be expecting an easier afternoon

Livingston head coach Gary Holt has been discussing the development of 20-year-old Jack Hamilton, who will try to fill the void Lyndon Dykes leaves today.

"He’s watched Lyndon and he's improved his own game," Holt tells Sky Sports.

"The only thing is no-one is here to watch it, so lets hope he does justice on camera.

"We’re getting more up to speed in the intensity levels. We just want to be more productive in the final third."

It's the injury issue. You could be close to a life changing move. You could be one injury from that falling apart. I imagine subconsciously Lyndon Dykes wasn't playing at 100% and Livingston need that

  8. Rangers going for magnificent sevenpublished at 16:14 British Summer Time 16 August 2020

    Livingston v Rangers (16:30)

Rangers have won six games in a row against Livingston since a 1-0 defeat at the Tony Macaroni Arena in September 2018.

Indeed, today's hosts have only scored once in all those games - none in the most recent three.

I think when a transfer is close, players become nervous about playing in case of injury. The deal must be close to being done for Lyndon not to be playing today

  10. Holt sidesteps Dykes questionpublished at 16:07 British Summer Time 16 August 2020

Our reporter at Tony Macaroni Arena, Chick Young, is saying that Livingston head coach Gary Holt did not wish to discuss the reason for Lyndon Dykes not even appearing on the bench.

However, it would appear that the striker is heading for QPR and he is being rested to make sure that deal goes ahead.

Given their history, it is amazing to think that, should Rangers win today, it will be the first time they have opened a top-flight campaign with four consecutive wins since 2010-11.

Back then, they went on to make it nine in a row - and win a third consecutive title.

Having earned plaudits last season for a surprise fifth-top finish and starting the season talking about challenging for a European place, Livingston have now gone seven games without a victory stretching to the tail-end of the last curtailed campaign.

A 4-1 defeat by Hibs in their last home game ended a nine-game unbeaten run on their own patch.

However, after opening this season with two defeats, they steadied the ship with a 2-2 draw away to Motherwell in midweek.

Will they, though, be sunk without top scorer Lyndon Dykes?

Ofir Marciano's fine save preserved Hibs' unbeaten start

It was Hibs' chance yesterday to make their mark at the top of the table.

An uninspired 0-0 draw at home to Motherwell meant they did edge ahead of Rangers, but they also missed the chance to go three points clear and relinquished their 100% start to the season.

Ross County's unbeaten start to the season was also ended, at home to promoted Dundee United, while St Johnstone secured their first win of the season away to Kilmarnock.

Meanwhile, Hamilton Academical's worryingly poor start to the season continued with a home defeat by St Mirren that leaves Brian Rice's side at the bottom without a point.

Lyndon Dykes is not included in Livingston's matchday squad amid that speculation the striker is close to joining QPR.

Head coach Gary Holt makes five changes in all. On-loan goalkeeper Robby McCrorie cannot play against his parent club and it means Max Stryjek, the 24-year-old Pole signed from Eastleigh, makes his debut.

Midfielder Jason Holt does make his debut against the club he left this summer, while Nicky Devlin and Jack McMillan come into defence and 20-year-old Jack Hamilton replaces Dykes up front.

Ciaron Brown misses out through injury, while Aaron Taylor-Sinclair, and Scott Robinson drop to the bench.

There's still no Allan McGregor in goal for Rangers as the veteran former Scotland man recovers from injury - but Leon Balogun and Joe Aribo are also missing.

Filip Helander replaces Balogun in central defence, while and Scott Arfield comes in for Aribo in midfield.

Alfredo Morelos, the subject of recent interest from Lille, continues to lead the line with recent signings Cedric Itten and Kemar Roofe again on the bench.

    Livingston v Rangers (16:30)

Livingston striker Lyndon DykesImage source, SNS

There was talk this season of Lyndon Dykes being a target for Rangers, but it looks like the striker's destination will be Queens Park Rangers instead.

Reports suggest a £2m fee has been agreed with former Rangers manager Mark Warburton's club - and the fact the 24-year-old Australian is missing from Livi's starting line-up today suggests he is poised to leave Tony Macaroni Arena.

We're still waiting for Dykes to announce what colour of national shirt he will choose - the blue of his Scottish parents or the gold of his homeland - and wondering what hair shade he'll appear with next after sporting a rainbow in support of the NHS during pre-season training.

But what does appear certain is that he will be swapping Livi's yellow for the blue and white hoops in the near future.

Welcome to our coverage of the fifth of what should have been six weekend fixtures in the Scottish Premiership.

The postponement of the first, between reigning champions Celtic and Aberdeen because of Covid-19 lockdown indiscretions, means this one could be the most significant.

Steven Gerrard's Rangers travel to face Livingston, who are seeking their first win, not only with the chance of overtaking Hibernian at the top of the table but of stretching the gap between themselves and Neil Lennon's side to eight points.

Stay with us for the build-up, live commentary and post-match reaction from Tony Macaroni Arena on BBC Radio Scotland and online.
