It does make me laugh. There seems to be a trend of supporters moaning how difficult their teams first seven games are. Seven games is nearly a quarter of the season!! What do they expect? Fulham at home every weekend? Jeez.

    Paul in Poole.

Not sure Fulham fans will be too happy with that comparison!

  5. Bielsa "very, very close" to new Leeds dealpublished at 12:05 British Summer Time 20 August 2020

Head coach Marcelo Bielsa is "very, very close" to signing a new contract at Leeds United, says chief executive Angus Kinnear.

The Argentine, 64, ended Leeds' 16-year exile from the Premier League by leading them to the Championship title.

His contract expired at the end of the season, but Kinnear is confident Bielsa will sign a new deal shortly.

  15. Everton target Allan and Doucourepublished at 10:52 British Summer Time 20 August 2020

    Phil McNulty
    BBC Sport chief football writer

Everton are in talks with Napoli over a deal for £30m-rated Brazil midfield man Allan – and have re-ignited their interest in Watford’s Abdoulaye Doucoure.

Manager Carlo Ancelotti is a big admirer of the combative 29-year-old having worked with him when he was in charge at Napoli and reports in Italy suggest Allan is ready to reject interest from Atletico Madrid to-re-unite with his former coach at Goodison Park.

Ancelotti is determined to revamp Everton’s midfield after struggling towards the end of last season, although the area is already over-populated with the likes of Tom Davies, Fabian Delph, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Andre Gomes.

Allan is seen as the ball-winning competitor Everton require, while they have also registered their interest in 27-year-old Doucoure, who wants to leave Watford after they were relegated from the Premier League.

Ancelotti hoped to sign Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg when he decided to leave Southampton but the Dane preferred to move to Tottenham.

The Toffees also had a deal lined up for Lille central defender Gabriel Maghaeles earlier this year but negotiations, which were moving towards a successful conclusion, were disrupted by the Coronavirus pandemic and the 22-year-old is now likely to sign for Arsenal.
