This is some start from Everton, isn't it? Every time they go forward they look really slick, with the passing ability of players like James Rodríguez.

Wilfried Zaha's shot from inside the area is blocked, when laying it off for Eberechi Eze was the better option.

You can only sit back and applaud. Absolutely fantastic play by Everton, who moved the ball lovely straight into the path of Dominic Calvert-Lewin. The pass from James Rodriguez to Séamus Coleman in the build-up was absolutely superb.

    Dominic Calvert-Lewin

    Breakthough!

Delightful opener - made internationally, finished off at home.

Frenchman Abdoulaye Doucoure feeds Colombian James Rodriguez, who slices the Palace backline open with a reverse pass into Seamus Coleman.

The Republic of Ireland man takes his time and finds Dominic Calvert-Lewin for the Englishman to stroke home a finish from eight yards out.

All about Rodriguez's pass for that goal.

  8. Calvert-Lewin 'a lot more selfish'published at 15:09 British Summer Time 26 September 2020

    Jermaine Beckford
Ex-Leeds Utd striker on Final Score

Calvert-Lewin is a lot more selfish in his positioning and movement now. He’s got players who will be able to do the dirty work for him.

The biggest difference I’ve seen in him since Ancelotti’s been in charge is his ruthlessness in front of goal. He’s missing nothing.

He’s becoming an efficient number nine, something Everton have been lacking for a while now.

I think Palace will struggle. If you’re only getting 20 percent possession – you can’t do that every week.

It’ll be interesting to see how it pans out today.

    Brighton 2-3 Manchester United

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton boss Graham Potter to BBC Sport: "The performance level was amazing from us, I'm so proud of the players. It's a sore one, to say the least. Sometimes life isn't fair and it feels like that at the moment.

"All the little things have gone against us but we were really good for 90 minutes and we have to take that forwards. We have developed as a group, as a team, and we will take that setback as positively as we can.

"I don't know what the shotcount was but we were dominant. We deserved something from the game to say the least."

  17. 'We have plenty of work ahead'published at 14:54 British Summer Time 26 September 2020

    Brighton 2-3 Man Utd

    Manchester United

Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer talking to BT Sport: "We got away with one. Maybe one point we deserved, we didn't deserve more. But the character deserved more.

"Last season we had too many draws, so that is a big plus for us. You have to be happy Jose is not here to measure the goal posts.

"They are a difficult team to play against. We don't have the legs and sharpness but we will get there. We have plenty of work ahead."

It’s very much about the manager. You look at the acquisitions Everton have made this season and the improvements they’ve made on the pitch.

You have to have a good manager to make all that work, and that’s what Carlo Ancelotti’s doing.

There aren’t many strikers who are better than Calvert-Lewin at the moment.

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton winger Leandro Trossard to BBC Sport: "We had a lot of chances and to lose like that is the worst feeling you can get in a game. We played really good today.

"It was one of those days, the ball didn't want to go in. We need to take the positives out of the game.

"It is always hard to concede a penalty, it's a really tough one."

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has questioned Andros Townsend's decision to assume the "burden" of presenting a regular radio breakfast show.

Midfielder Townsend, 29, has made regular appearances on Talksport but Hodgson says he is not in favour of the move.

Hodgson said: "I think it's too early. I don't think he needs to start thinking about his life after football by becoming a journalist at this stage of his career."

"It's something he wants to do. He's certainly intelligent enough and sensible enough to manage it, (but) I wouldn't have encouraged him to take it on.

"It doesn't cause any problems whatsoever but it's an extra burden of work for him.

"In terms of his football career, that continues to go forward. He's probably in a good stage at the moment in certain aspects of his game, which he works hard on, and I see them improving."
