James Rodríguez makes the game look slow, when it isn't. He is able to create time when he has the ball. It is almost the signature of every brilliant technician in the game when they can make things look simple, easy and slow when the match is actually being played at quite a good pace.
Crystal Palace 1-2 Everton
Another action packed game.
License fee payers and Sky/BT subscribers are getting their monies worth this season.
Crystal Palace 1-2 Everton
James Rodriguez's free-kick lacks any real conviction and it is a simple catch for Vicente Guaita.
Crystal Palace 1-2 Everton
'Jaymez' on 'Hamez'.
James Rodriguez threatening on the edge of the box and is tripped by James McArthur.
Free-kick for Everton.

James Rodriguez is so good.
Conducting the orchestra out there.

If that header misses his hand, the ball runs to the keeper or Richarlison is given offside. Dreadful decision by the referee.
Toby, Harrow
The handball law is the law. Palace got a penalty in the same way against United last week. It's part of the game now. Accept it.

I would like to hear the conversation that went on between Kevin Friend and Joel Ward. They spoke at length after the penalty was taken. I don't know how Kevin Friend could have kept a straight face as he explained how they came to that decision.
Crystal Palace 1-2 Everton
Well, VAR has certainly added plenty of drama and talking points.

Jermaine Beckford
Ex-Leeds Utd striker on Final Score
It's very, very harsh. Joel Ward will be fuming with that.
He has not lifted his hand to disrupt the direction of the ball, he hasn't done it intentionally - it's a position where your hand would be naturally.
Unfortunately for him, it has hit his hand and at the moment that is a penalty...
Crystal Palace 1-2 Everton
Tell you another thing that is a joke...
Referees barely used the pitchside monitor last season.
Now they're being sent there at every other opportunity.

Neil Beasley: There is no such thing as common sense any more.
Aron Moore: The precedent was set last weekend by the refs sadly.
ChemistPaul: Well, that was as much of a penalty as the one that Palace benefited from last week. Which is to say that it was never a penalty in a million years.
Crystal Palace 1-2 Everton
Palace got one from Victor Lindelof last weekend, evened itself out today?

This handball rule is a joke. Needs urgent amendment.

Crystal Palace 1-2 Everton
It's ridiculous, I know.
But those are the rules now.
What can we do?

I cannot believe what I am seeing with these decisions. Something has to be done. It is ludicrous. What is he supposed to do with his hand? The header was miscued. How can you react to get your arm out of the way of that?
Richarlison
Confidently done.
Richarlison steps up, stutters and plonks it high into the top corner.
Crystal Palace 1-1 Everton
Ally McCoist going nuts on Amazon comms after the decision.

Yep, had to be.
