Having survived by the skin of their teeth last season, Villa have gone big in the transfer market, spending around £83m on new acquisitions.

Striker Ollie Watkins, goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez and full-back Matty Cash have all come in, as well as former Chelsea forward Bertrand Traore from Lyon.

With skipper Jack Grealish signing a new deal, do they have enough to stay up once more?

  5. 'We need to be more clinical in both boxes'published at 17:16 British Summer Time 21 September 2020

    Sheffield United

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder tells Sky Sports: "Going back to it, the explanation afterwards was pretty poor. The first goal in the Premier League is massive but it was a draw on the day, it was an original poor decision and I am sure it will not happen again.

"Broken pre-season like everyone else has had. We started our season 6:06pm against Wolves and lots of encouragement with the chances we made against them. We have to hit the ground running and are looking for our first point. It was a terrible situation to be in, 2-0 down after six minutes but we need to be more clinical in both boxes.

"Oliver Burke has had a number of managers in his short career and has had two big moves, especially going to RB Leipzig who saw something in him. We looked and thought what we needed was someone at the top of the pitch with pace. Oli has raw pace and counter-attacking is a huge part of the game in the Premier League."

The operator of the Premier League's goalline technology system had to apologise after an error denied Sheffield United a goal in their 0-0 draw at Aston Villa in June.

Villa goalkeeper Orjan Nyland carried Oliver Norwood's 42nd-minute free-kick over the line.

But referee Michael Oliver did not receive a signal to indicate a goal.

"I think the goalkeeper was in the Holte End when he caught it," said Blades boss Chris Wilder.
