  1. goal

GOAL - Manchester United 2-0 Brightonpublished at 13:34 British Summer Time 4 October 2020

    Alessia Russo

    And there it is!

Alessia Russo, in her first start for Manchester United, doubles the hosts' lead. It is a fine run and finish from the England international after prodding the ball into space and skipping a tackle.

    Great composure.

  2. Postpublished at 13:33 British Summer Time 4 October 2020

    Man Utd 1-0 Brighton

After a pause, allowing Mary Earps to get some treatment, we are back up and running.

Manchester United will want to add to their advantage, because a one-goal lead for the way they have dominated proceedings so far doesn't look like enough.

  3. Postpublished at 13:30 British Summer Time 4 October 2020

    Man Utd 1-0 Brighton

Brighton have rarely threatened at the other end.

Every time that they have surged forward in the second half they have lacked that moment of creativity to really unlock Manchester United defence.

Still, a harmless ball into the box seems to have caused Red Devils goalkeeper Mary Earps a little trouble. She goes down clutching her leg.

    Man Utd 1-0 Brighton

I've said it a few times now, but Manchester United really could be well out in this one.

Megan Walsh has twice denied the hosts since the break. First she saved from Kirsty Hanson, then she denied Leah Galton.

Walsh's movement off the line to deny Galton one-on-one made it the best save of the day so far.

Chloe Kelly's fine effort from outside the box is the difference so far.

But that only tells part of the story as City have twice hit the woodwork.

  6. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 13:21 British Summer Time 4 October 2020

    Man City 1-0 Tottenahm

For the second time in the first half, City hit the woodwork. This time it's Samantha Mewis who sends a low shot off the foot of the far post.

We are just seconds from half-time now...

  7. Postpublished at 13:19 British Summer Time 4 October 2020

    Man City 1-0 Tottenham

Yikes. There is a moment of panic for Man City's defence as goalkeeper Ellie Roebuck races out to clear. She get to it before Rianna Dean... just. Dean gets a yellow card for her sliding effort to reach it and collecting Roebuck instead.

At the other end, Caroline Weir lets a threaded pass run into her path and her first-time effort from outside the box flashes past the near post.

  8. Postpublished at 13:14 British Summer Time 4 October 2020

    Man City 1-0 Tottenham

There are just three minutes of the first half left at the Academy Stadium.

Tottenham have remained composed after going a goal down. Their discipline has been impressive so far.

  9. SECOND HALF KICK-OFFpublished at 13:11 British Summer Time 4 October 2020

    Man Utd 1-0 Brighton

We are back under way in Leigh. Can Brighton come back in this one, or will Casey Stoney's Manchester United earn their second WSL win of the season?

  10. Postpublished at 13:10 British Summer Time 4 October 2020

    Man City 1-0 Tottenham

After some treatment, Kit Graham is back in the game.

There, however, was plenty of remonstrating going on from Tottenham players and staff after they conceded while she floored.

  11. goal

GOAL - Manchester City 1-0 Tottenhampublished at 13:04 British Summer Time 4 October 2020

    Chloe Kelly

That has been coming for a while now.

Chloe Kelly, as she has done a few times already today, floats in from the left to create space for herself. Her curled effort beats Rebecca Spencer who appears to have got a hand on the shot.

There will be a little debate around the goal as Tottenham's Kit Graham went down injured. Play, however, legitimately continued.

  12. Postpublished at 13:03 British Summer Time 4 October 2020

    Man City 0-0 Tottenham

We have just passed the half-hour mark at the Academy Stadium and it remains goalless.

This match is being shaped by Tottenham's high press. They are not allowing Manchester City's array of stars to dictate the tempo.

  13. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 13:00 British Summer Time 4 October 2020

    Man City 0-0 Tottenham

Steph Houghton threads a delightful long pass to the feet of Ellen White.

The England forward turns, evades one tackle and hammers a long-range effort off the crossbar. The best moment of the half, that.

    Wonderfully crafted chance.

  14. HALF-TIMEpublished at 12:57 British Summer Time 4 October 2020

    Man Utd 1-0 Brighton

Ella Toone's early penalty is all that separates the two sides in Leigh.

While Manchester United have had the chances to be out of sight in this one, Brighton have improved and could have level if not for a costly slip from Megan Connolly.

Chloe Kelly wants a goal! That much has been abundantly clear in the opening 22 minutes at the Academy Stadium.

Her latest effort is power and low... but just wide.

  16. Postpublished at 12:52 British Summer Time 4 October 2020

    Man Utd 1-0 Brighton

We are closing in on half-time in the early kick-off and Brighton have a huge chance to equalise.

Megan Connolly, however, slips as she shoots and sends her effort over the bar after Maya Le Tissier swung in a fine free-kick.

  17. Postpublished at 12:47 British Summer Time 4 October 2020

    Man City 0-0 Tottenham

Oh my, what a miss from Manchester City's Janine Beckie.

Tottenham's failure to properly clear a floated ball into the box finds Beckie free on the right. She times her shot all wrong and sends it horribly off target.

There was a moment's pause from Tottenham's defence as she took that shot after City's Ellen White got tangled with goalkeeper Rebecca Spencer.

Manchester United are really pushing for a second against Brighton now.

The visitors' goal have survived a bit of a siege in these past few minute. Felicity Gibbons cleared an effort from Alessia Russo off the line while Ella Toone again went close.

  19. Postpublished at 12:41 British Summer Time 4 October 2020

    Man City 0-0 Tottenham

Just how expensive will that save be for Tottenham? Rebecca Spencer gets some treatment. Not really sure what it's for. All, however, looks to be fine as she continues.

  20. Postpublished at 12:39 British Summer Time 4 October 2020

    Man City 0-0 Tottenham

And as I write the words that there hasn't been a chance at the Academy Stadium and we have one!

Chloe Kelly runs at the defence, moves in from the right and forces Rebecca Spencer to make a diving save.
