    Norwich 0-0 Derby

Derby are executing their gameplan very well, which means unfortunately this hasn't been too great as a spectacle.

Norwich full-back Max Aarons lets the ball slip out of his hands and it's a foul throw - that's probably been the highlight of the second half so far.

  2. Postpublished at 47 mins

    Norwich 0-0 Derby

Nathan Byrne - who was arguably Derby's best player in the first half - gets down the right and digs out a cross for Wayne Rooney.

But his near-post effort goes harmlessly wide.

  3. Second halfpublished at 46 mins

    Norwich 0-0 Derby

We're back under way at a sodden Carrow Road.

No half-time substitutions but we're hoping for a change in tempo on the pitch.

It's a big day outside the EFL today, with the National League getting under way following confirmation of financial support for clubs from the government.

Even lower down the pyramid, Bury AFC - formed in the wake of Bury FC's EFL exit - play their first ever league fixture in the 10th tier.

BBC Radio Manchester have produced a podcast series detailing what happened after Bury FC's expulsion in August 2019, which you can listen to and download here.

AFC Bournemouth moved to the top of the Championship on Friday with victory over 10-man Coventry City in a feisty encounter at St Andrew's.

Jefferson Lerma and two second-half goals by Dan Gosling secured the win, after a first-half equaliser from Coventry striker Matt Godden from the penalty spot.

City's chief playmaker Gustavo Hamer was sent off following a scuffle with Bournemouth skipper Steve Cook, who was booked after a naughty challenge from Adam Smith on Fankaty Dabo, but by that stage they already trailed 3-1.

    Norwich 0-0 Derby

Norwich v DerbyImage source, PA Media

It's been low on shots, saves, drama and any real event.

Norwich started very promisingly but Derby survived the initial pressure and will be the happier of the teams at the break.

Good job this is just the appetiser for an afternoon feast of EFL football!

  10. YELLOW CARDpublished at 45 mins

    Norwich 0-0 Derby

Norwich give the ball away and, out of frustration, Emi Buendia slides in late on Jason Knight and receives the game's first yellow card.

The hosts need to refocus a bit at the interval.

    Norwich 0-0 Derby

    More resolute defending from Derby!

Emi Buendia weaves his way into the box and the ball falls to Onel Hernandez - who has pink shirts around him instantly and Nathan Byrne makes sure he can't get a shot off.

  12. Postpublished at 38 mins

    Norwich 0-0 Derby

There's something a bit last-ditch about Derby's defending at times.

Marco Stiepermann attempts a sweeping pass for the hosts but it's just about cut out by Nathan Byrne, who allows his defensive colleague to thump clear.

It's wet and a bit flat at the moment.

After a ropey start Derby boss Phillip Cocu is sitting pretty comfortably in the dugout.

We've been short on goalmouth action which is a big compliment to the visitors, who have nullified Norwich and are posing more of a threat themselves.

  14. Postpublished at 32 mins

    Norwich 0-0 Derby

Emi Buendia - who, like many, has been linked with a move away from Carrow Road - is limping after a challenge on Derby's Kamil Jozwiak.

Both players have treatment but are back on the pitch.

    Norwich 0-0 Derby

If you didn't see our post at 12:24 BST and are trying to get your head around Derby's fetching pink shirts...

They were launched on Friday, with £5 from the sale of each adult shirt going to a breast cancer charity.

A great cause, and the pitch is certainly very colourful with Norwich wearing their traditional yellow and green.

  16. Postpublished at 27 mins

    Norwich 0-0 Derby

With Curtis Davies and Matt Clarke marshaling the Derby defence they certainly aren't short on commitment.

Norwich have threatened to carve them open a couple times but the tempo has slowed somewhat as the Rams get a foothold.

    Much better from Derby.

Duane Holmes bursts down the right and picks out a fine diagonal pass for Wayne Rooney, whose attempted left-footed volley skews wide.

That would've been some goal had Rooney buried it on his weak foot.

  18. Postpublished at 19 mins

    Norwich 0-0 Derby

Duane Holmes attempts a long throw into the Norwich box but it lacks distance and pace - maybe the wet ball didn't help.

The Rams have grown into this a tad after surviving the first 10 minutes of intense Norwich pressure.

  19. Postpublished at 17 mins

    Norwich 0-0 Derby

Derby have a spell of possession in the Norwich half but it breaks down without anything to show for it.

The Rams are clearly trying to frustrate their hosts and snatch something on the counter attack.

Norwich are flooding the Derby penalty box, with full-backs Xavi Quintilla and Max Aarons piling forward.

The Rams are looking to play out from the back but the Norwich press is putting them off, with David Marshall instead kicking long and giving the ball back to the hosts.
