Ok they're going to start with pot one, which means deciding which group each of the top seeds will be in.

Which basically means nothing until other pots are drawn.

I'm guessing after this bit we'll have to wait another age for more teams to be drawn...

I'd planned for having dinner at 18:30 BST. Starting to wonder if I was being optimistic.

  4. How does it work?published at 16:26 British Summer Time 1 October 2020

It's simple enough to be honest - by Uefa/Fifa standards anyway.

One team from each pot goes into each group - but multiple teams from the same country cannot be drawn together and neither can Russian and Ukrainian teams because of, you know.

Well actually there is something else. Countries with more than one team have their clubs 'paired' so one of them play on a Tuesday and the other on a Wednesday.

So that means if Manchester United, say, are drawn in Group A, B, C or D then Liverpool will be in Group E, F, G or H.

OK, they say they're going to start the draw. I've been burned by people saying that too many times though.

You: Why aren't you telling us what Manuel Neuer is saying?

Me: He's speaking German. I don't speak German.

Duncan, Edinburgh: Just get on with the draw already!

Manuel Neuer is in the arena, whereas Sarah Bouhaddi isn't. I'd say a lot of the award winners aren't going to be in Switzerland.

Lyon's Sarah Bouhaddi and Bayern Munich's Manuel Neuer win the awards. That's for the best goalkeepers of last season's women's and men's Champions League.

Honestly I'm not even going to tell you what's happening on the stream right now. It's just too boring.
