  1. As bad as losing a goal?published at 20:37 British Summer Time 8 October 2020

    Quote Message

McTominay tried to guide it instead of giving it conviction. He's unlucky, but at this level, missing chances like that is like losing a goal

  2. HALF-TIME Scotland 0-0 Israelpublished at 20:31 British Summer Time 8 October 2020

Scotland out to be ahead at the break, Scott McTominay heading wide when he was left unmarked at a corner.

However, apart from that and an Andy Robertson just wide, Steve Clarke's side have failed to impress during a first half when they have looked to have boots filled with negativity and fear.

Israel have had 54% of possession and have looked the more fluent, more confident side, but even they have rarely threatened.

Celtic duo Hatem Abd Elhamed and Nir Bitton have missed their best chances so far.

All to play for going into what promises to be another neervous 45 minutes for Scotland.

    Scotland 0-0 Israel

This is when the Tartan Army would be roaring their men on to hopefully greater effort, but football these days is a ghostly affair and the Scots have to find that inspiration deep within themselves and so far it is lacking as we enter the final seconds of the fist half.

    Scotland 0-0 Israel

We really have been dominated. Israel's linking play has been great, but they haven't created too many chances

    Scotland 0-0 Israel

    Billy Dodds
Former Scotland striker on BBC Sportsound

McTominay's got to score, it's as simple as that. He's left all alone, eight yards out, just hit the target!

  6. CLOSE!published at 38mins

    Scotland 0-0 Israel

Scotland are becoming frustrated and John McGinn unleashes a speculative drive from long range.

It is well wide but took a deflection and, when the cross finds Scott McTominay totally unmarked, the Manchester United man somehow heads just wide.

    Big chance. Big miss.

  7. Postpublished at 35mins

    Scotland 0-0 Israel

Scotland give away a free-kick 30 yards out and it presents the visitors with a chance to put on even more pressure.

Nir Bitton rises to meet the cross, but the Celtic man heads wide under pressure.

  8. Still no clearer in Oslopublished at 20:20 British Summer Time 8 October 2020

    Norway 0-0 Serbia

Serbia have come closest in Oslo, but we are still no closer to knowing who lies in wait for the winners at Hampden.

We are getting ahead of ourselves, however, considering Scotland aren't looking likely winners so far.

First shot on target from either side comes from the Scots.

However, Oli McBurnie's snap shot from 18 yards takes a deflection and is easily held by goalkeeper Ofir Marciano.

We are having a problem down the right-hand side. O'Donnell is not getting to grips. We are showing a bit of naivety

    Scotland 0-0 Israel

Israel defender Eitan Tibi is forced off for treatment with blood flowing from his nose.

It's a bruising battle, but football-wise it is a points lead for the visitors considering they have played almost twice as many passes as the Scots so far.

Great chance for Israel as Hatem Abd Elhamed charges up from the back and turns Scott McTominay inside out to give himself a sight at goal 10 yards out.

However, Celtic team-mate Callum McGregor slides in to concede a corner.

    Scotland 0-0 Israel

    Billy Dodds
Former Scotland striker on BBC Sportsound

    Quote Message

There's no doubt Steve Clarke has analysed the last game against Israel and thought we have to put on more pressure. It's good off the ball, but we need to be careful when we are trying to get into our defensive shape

In case you are wondering about the Scotland formation that was the subject of much debate before kick-off, Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay is again in a three-man central defence.
