  1. Scotland continue march to finalspublished at 00:02 British Summer Time 9 October 2020

    FT: Scotland 0-0 Israel (5-3pens)

Israel's 50-year wait to reach a major finals continue, but Scotland's spot-kick kings progress to the Euro 2020 final away to Serbia and a chance to reach a tournament for the first time since 1998.

It wasn't pretty - achieved after failing to put an effort on target in 120 minutes. But Scotland have the chance to go one better than their last play-off final defeat - by Netherlands back in 2003 - thanks to five perfect penalties.

Next up, though, are Slovakia at Hampden. Join us then for the build-up to another big night of international football.

  13. Clarke plea for positivitypublished at 23:11 British Summer Time 8 October 2020

    FT: Scotland 0-0 Israel (5-3pens)

Steve Clarke is hoping for some "positive press" following the victory over Israel.

"The type of game it was, was the game I expected. A tense, nervy affair," the Scotland head coach says.

"We had the biggest chance of the game with Scott McTominay’s header and we almost nicked it at the end.

"As a group of players and as a squad I think we are developing. I can feel there is something building. It’s another game unbeaten. These things are important. They put everything into the game and we got our reward."

"Qualification is still in our hands. We’ve got a tough game away to Serbia next month, but it’s one we will look forward to.

"Serbia or Norway was always going to be a difficult game away from home. We’ll go there with every of confidence looking to make a little bit of history for the Scottish national team."

    FT: Scotland 0-0 Israel (5-3pens)

Before Scotland can think of that final, however, they must regather their thoughts - and players left after Covid-19 withdrawals, for Sunday's Nations League group game at home to Slovakia.

Czech Republic are next up in Glasgow on Wednesday at the end of a hectic spell for Steve Clarke's men.

He'll be hoping there are no more late call-offs to his depleted squad.

  17. It's more relief than anything - Marshallpublished at 22:57 British Summer Time 8 October 2020

    FT: Scotland 0-0 Israel (5-3pens)

Scotland goalkeeper David Marshall tells BBC Scotland the result overshadows the performance.

"Being in a semi-final, we were just desperate to get to that one-off game next month and we’ve got the job done," he says.

"Saving the first penalty breaks them a bit and gave us confidence. The last four penalties from us were a real high standard - the lads have practiced every day.

"It's more relief than anything. You just want to get through anyway you do it."
