Did West Ham pay the price for a high defensive line? They are playing very high up the pitch, although as this is an average position graphic it may be a consequence of them going three down so early and they pushed up to try and get back into it.

Either way, bold football away from home.

Outstanding from Spurs. West Ham are really struggling to deal with them. The movement from the front three. Harry Kane outstanding in the first half. Two goals and an assist for Son's opener. Some of the football has been quite scintillating.

Tomas Soucek's shot inside the area is blocked before the whistle goes for half time.

So far, so very good for Tottenham.

Declan Rice pirouettes with the ball on the edge of the Tottenham area but runs into a wall of white shirts and the hosts clear.

It looks like Spurs are going to go into the break three goals to the good. For a while it looked like it could have been a lot worse for West Ham.

Tottenham come forward again with Harry Kane leading the charge. He feeds Moussa Sissoko on the left and Sissoko crosses for Steven Bergwijn but the winger miscontrols and puts a harmless effort well over.

Good work from Tanguy Ndombele as he holds off a challenge to retain possession and start a Tottenham attack with a pass to Sergio Reguilon. The full-back plays a quick ball towards the edge of the box but there's no-one there and it goes behind for a West Ham goal kick.

Worrying signs for West Ham because, apart from Pablo Fornals' effort, they have been lacking ideas and creativity.

Davinson Sánchez stabs behind a Pablo Fornals cross at the near post and West Ham have a corner but Harry Kane is back to head clear.

Serge Aurier fizzes a dangerous ball in behind the defence from the right and Son Heung-min sticks out a boot to meet it but his shot is smothered by Lukasz Fabianski.

Another ball into the Tottenham box is aimed at Tomas Soucek but he can't get any decent direction on his header and Tottenham clear.

The game has settled down after that explosive start for the hosts. If West Ham can get one back before the break it will give themselves a glimmer of hope of mounting a second-half comeback.

Tanguy Ndombele looks like he has lost a stone-and-a-half since I saw him last season. He looks in really good physical shape. He looks like he is covering ground better. Full of confidence. He wants the ball. He's asking for the ball at every opportunity and wants to make things happen.

There was talk of him leaving the club over the summer but he looks to have come back with a point to prove and looks desperate to stay.

Jarrod Bowen is fouled and West Ham have a free kick just inside the Tottenham half.

The ball is sent into the box and Tomas Soucek heads on but the whistle goes for a Tottenham free kick.

Tottenham have done all their attacking down the left and West Ham are now reinforcing that area to try and avoid shipping further goals.

It does, however, leave the visitors a little exposed on the other flank and Tanguy Ndombele almost takes advantage as he slips a great ball behind the full-back to Serge Aurier inside the box but his cross is blocked.

A shot on goal for West Ham as Michail Antonio heads on for Pablo Fornals, who connects well first-time but his volley towards the near post is held by Hugo Lloris.

A break in play and respite for West Ham because Moussa Sissoko is down injured after clashing heavily with Michail Antonio for that Son Heung-min free kick. After a bit of treatment, Sissoko is OK to continue.
