I have not seen a player who has been able to improve their levels as much as Michail Antonio. He typifies the work-rate they want in that team. He has played as a full-back, as a midfielder and as a centre-forward he is chasing everything and is a real handful. He has good quality, good technique and is scoring goals.

West Ham need to get him back. He went off injured and if he is not fit, that is a big blow to West Ham.

West Ham United

West Ham manager David Moyes speaking to BBC Match of the day: "We could [have led by more than one] but it would have been hard on City because they played well. They are very good with the ball but I felt we could cause them some problems and we got a really good goal."

On Michail Antonio's goal: "It's the sort of thing as a kid you always wanted to do, to score an overhead kick. It was a terrific goal. He has been great for us, he can run, we can play into him - all good teams need a good centre-forward and we have a good centre forward at the moment."

On Antonio's injury: "I'm hoping it's not too bad but its something we need to be mindful of and maybe we have to give him some rest time as well."

"I thought we stuck at it and our defending was good. You're not going to play Man City without giving them opportunities because they're so good. I thought we defended really well today and we had to against that team."

On West Ham's start to the season: "I'm thrilled with the points total because I don't think many people would have given us much. We showed real character to stick at it and we're going in the right direction. We want to get better and I hope we will."

West Ham United

West Ham goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski, speaking to MOTD: “We are pleased with the point and with the performance, especially defensively. We played very strongly against a very good side. We knew what to expect from City and knew what we had to do defensively, so we can be really pleased.

“With a team like City you always have to be ready. They can switch on quickly and turn things up. We had a 10 to 15-minute period in the second half when we struggled a bit. They made a change that worked for them, and they scored a goal. We had to come back to our normal selves.

“We found ourselves defending for most of the second half and we managed to draw the game to get a point, so at the end of the day I think we can be happy with that.”

On his second-half save from Sterling: “I think he took a bit of a heavy touch, so I tried to make myself big. I don’t think he had a chance to go around me. I managed to keep it out. In those situations you always have to make smart decisions. I think that’s what I’ve done today.”

Outstanding goal by Michail Antonio - in the box, back to goal, looks like he is going nowhere but pulls a rabbit out of the hat, overhead kick and the ball flies into the net.

The players in the West Ham side that are doing it for me at the moment are Declan Rice, Antonio, of course, and Angelo Ogbonna, I think has been really good, he is a real presence at the moment. Tomas Soucek has also come in and has been a real find for them.

If West Ham can keep building up this momentum I think it can be a really good season for them.

West Ham United

West Ham manager David Moyes speaking to BT Sport: "I take a fantastic point against a really good team. The character the players showed, their attitude to stick at it. Manchester City have come here two of three times recently, winning by four or five so today's performance was much improved.

"I have to say, the way they have played and trained they have been very good. I'm really pleased. It was getting tough the way Man City came on at us. I'm really pleased we took a point from the game."

On Michail Antonio's injury: "He just felt it. I don't think he's too bad, maybe a bit of cramping. He's a key figure for us and I hope it's not bad. He has become really important to the team here. Most football clubs need a really good number nine and we have one at the moment.

"We're trying to build a young, energetic team. Thomas [Soucek] and Declan [Rice] have been excellent. We have been really pleased with them. I hope it continues but I'm not getting carried away. There have been good signs.

"Coming in to the game was the best I've felt coming in to facing Man City in a long time. We felt positive we could go and give them a game. It was hard but we were close."

There is much more belief there [at West Ham]. There is a spirit. I like the way he is playing with a back-five. That seems to be the way forward.

I really respect what David Moyes does. The team are well drilled, they know exactly what they are doing. He has made good acquisitions. So they are going along nicely after what was a really difficult start - losing against Newcastle.

Always love Craven Cottage. A proper football ground. Can Fulham pick up their first win of the season?

Any point will do, I'm sure.

Manchester City

More from Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola: “We started really well. We suffered in the last 10 or 15 minutes of the first half. In the second half we were better and scored early. We had the chances we needed to win the game, but unfortunately we couldn’t score.

“We created enough. Their defenders were defending so deep so it’s difficult to find spaces, but we had the chances.

“I’m not a guy who can predict the future. We’ve already dropped seven points, which is a lot. But we’ve struggled a lot for many reasons. We have to take things game by game and see what happens.”

On Sergio Aguero’s substitution: “It looks like a muscular injury.”

Still baffles me that they read out the teams on the voiceover in the stadiums before kick-off.

Manchester City

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola speaking to BT Sport: "We started really good, we concede a goal the first time they arrive. They defend so deep and we had the chance at the end to score the goal. Now we move forward.

"I think we didn't play bad except for the last 10 minutes of the first half. They have many players arriving in the box, we had periods of that but we had the chances to score and we didn't."

On striker Sergio Aguero being taken off early: "Injury. No, I don't know [what it is]."

"All the teams in the Premier League are difficult. [West Ham] make a good first half. yes."

On Phil Foden: "As always he gave us something extra".

If a team can get at Manchester City's defence they can expose them. Pep Guardiola has recognised that and has tried to plug those gaps.

The fact Liverpool are not having a great time at the moment is giving Pep a bit of a breather. He is not going to panic just yet, but make no mistake, this man will get it right. He is a winner, it's a work in progress and I have no doubts City will be there in the shake-up.

Fulham have also missed three of their past six Premier League penalties, as many as the previous 34 they had taken in the competition.

I feel that with the quarter-final loss at the end of last season, Manchester City only had a very small break, lots of injuries at the start of the new season and they really haven't found any kind of rhythm.

It's a new beginning, without David Silva, and we are not used to this - only eight points, 11th in the table at the moment. It's really surprising. They just can't get going.

Kevin de Bruyne came off the bench and it improved things. Raheem Stirling went back out wide and Phil Foden grabbed a goal, but in the end I think it was a good point for West Ham.

Palace can also earn consecutive competitive away victories against Fulham for the first time.

Fulham can equal their longest winless run from the beginning of a Premier League campaign - six matches in 2011-12.

Their only away victory in their past 24 top-flight games was 1-0 at Bournemouth in April 2019 (D3, L20).

The age difference of 33 years and 65 days between Fulham boss Scott Parker and Crystal Palace counterpart Roy Hodgson is the second-biggest gap between two English managers for a Premier League game.

Palace have lost five of their past six Premier League away matches, failing to score in all five defeats.

“We know they were in good form going into the game, which is something the manager touched on beforehand. Their goalkeeper kept them in it, but we were just unlucky today.

“It’s been a strange year. A lot of games are coming quickly so maybe some players are feeling it. Everyone has the ability to make an impact.”

Manchester City

Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden speaking to BT Sport: "We would like to get the points today, I think we played very well and controlled most of the game. Very disappointed to not win the game but we will get over it tomorrow and improve on things for the next game."

On his instructions when coming on: "Just to try to be lively and come on and make a difference. I tried to do that and we got the goal but couldn't get the second.

"We came out second half playing a lot quicker and more aggressive. I think we need to work on finishing our chances and we should be OK.

"We started slow in the first half and weren't passing quick enough. We didn't have a good tempo but the manager spoke well at half-time and we played much better second half.

"I enjoy scoring goals and I want to continue this form. It's nice to be playing as much as possible. I love this club and I love playing for them."

West Ham United

West Ham midfielder Declan Rice, speaking to BT Sport: “It’s a great point. We’ve been in fantastic form recently. The first half was excellent today. We nullified their main players and Antonio scored a great goal. It was about digging in and giving everything for the point.

“They’re a possession-based team. They’ve got so many players to pass to. It doesn’t help when they bring De Bruyne on with 25 minutes to go. The lads stayed switched on, it was brilliant.

“I think the last three or four games against them they’ve scored four or five every time, so it shows we’re building something. We’ve found a formation that suits our players. That’s what West Ham fans expect and that’s what we demand as players.”

On playing with Tomas Soucek: “He’s brilliant to play with. He’s definitely a player we needed and he’s definitely added something to the team. I don’t have to deal with all the running with Tomas, so he’s brilliant to play with.”
