    Jannik Vestergaard

    No doubt about this one.

    Brilliant finish.

My own personal memorable debut - first and last match for a Sunday league side, back when keepers could collect back passes. I hit one to my keeper from 30 yards out, didn't know my own strength, it flew into the top corner. Sadly a better finish than any I scored at the right end

There can be no more memorable debut than Alan Shearer's as a 17-year-old for Southampton against Arsenal at the Dell in 1988. He scored a hat-trick in a 4-2 win.

    Andy, Southampton

One young exciting homegrown boy called Callum Hudson-Odoi came on for his home debut against Newcastle in 2018. Particularly good as he is still in the first team, which is rare for a Chelsea player these days.

    Sean, London

Gary Flitcroft vs Everton 1996, sent off after just 3 minutes on debut. Bounced back and became Blackburn captain.

Ross Barkley takes the free-kick, which flicks the top of the wall and goes behind.

Villa are finding their feet now. Or not, as is the case here, with Bertrand Traore taken down on the edge of the box for a dangerous free-kick. The offender, James Ward-Prowse, is booked as a result.

    Aston Villa 0-0 Southampton

Villa's first real go at goal comes from Jack Grealish, whose effort from an angle is deflected past the far post and behind.

Grealish takes the corner and aims it towards Tyrone Mings, but the Saints defence stands firm and clears.

Just five goals conceded in five games so far for Villa. Toight like a tiger.

Aston Villa v Southampton (12:00 GMT)

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa manager Dean Smith speaking to Sky Sports on the 3-0 defeat by Leeds: "We've had eight days to prepare for this game. I thought it was a blip last week.

On leaving out Trezeguet: "It was a difficult choice. Trezeguet has been playing well but Bertrand [Traore] had been training well. He showed the attributes of someone wanting to play, during a behind-closed-doors match. Southampton are a very big threat - you have to see their last two results; coming back against Chelsea then beating Everyon.

"I said to the players four wins out of five is very good start, but five out of six would be an outstanding start."

  20. 'Now we're performing better' - Hasenhuttlpublished at 11:54 Greenwich Mean Time 1 November 2020

Aston Villa v Southampton (12:00 GMT)

    Southampton

Saints boss Ralph Hasenhuttl speaking to Sky Sports: "Hopefully our run continues. We're playing well and taking points. The first two games not good, but we changed a few things and now we're performing better."

On choosing Walcott over Redmond: "It's always difficult decisions. When you have easy decisions it's not good. We have more alternatives in the attacking part of the game."
