Adam Salter: Feel sorry for Sam Johnstone. He’s had a good game and that would have been a crowning moment. But it’s a mistake, he’s clearly off his line. We all love penalty saves (except when they’re against our team!), so there will be an outcry, but it’s the correct decision

Johnstone was clearly off his line when he saved Bruno Fernandes' effort though, so that was a case of VAR doing its job well.

That little skip in Bruno's run-up achieved exactly what it's meant to do - draws the keeper off his line. It means Bruno gets two bites of the cherry - score first time and the encroachment doesn't matter; miss and he gets a mulligan. Don't like it, but that's how it works these days
