In terms of permutations Northern Ireland need to win this game really.

If they draw (or lose) and Uefa decides to give Romania three points because Norway couldn't play today's game, then Northern Ireland will be relegated.

That's not saying Uefa will give Romania the points, but it's an option.

It's important to keep perspective, of course, but, given the week they have had, that has been a good half for Northern Ireland.

Their shape has been excellent, they are giving Austria very little space and, with Conor Washington and Liam Boyce full of running, they always have an outlet up front.

The players who have come in have done well, with Alistair McCann looking busy and assured on his international debut.

The next stage is to start threatening more and creating chances, but Ian Baraclough will be happy with the 45 minutes of work his players have put in.

The half-time whistle goes and Northern Ireland thoroughly deserve to be level.
