    Harrogate 2-0 Skelmersdale.

A rare chance for Skelmersdale after Kevin Lokko's foul on Emini Adegbenro but the free-kick, taken by Daniel Murphy, from 25 yards out is a complete waste, ballooned out of the ground.

  2. An FA Cup like no otherpublished at 55 mins

    Harrogate 2-0 Skelmersdale

Qualifying for this season's FA Cup started back on 31 August when Essex Senior League side Woodford Town beat London Colney 3-1 in the extra preliminary round.

The first-round line-up was completed on 4 November when Stockport County beat National League rivals Chesterfield 4-0 in the fourth qualifying round to earn a tie at League One Rochdale.

Although supporters have been allowed to attend some fixtures in qualifying, fans will not be allowed into grounds to watch any of the 40 first-round ties because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Sadly, that means no tinfoil FA Cups on display inside grounds.

Away goalkeeper Ben Barnes is instantly called into action as he has to tip over a well-hit 20-yard effort from Tom Walker.

The corner from the right finds its way to Dan Jones but he heads into the side netting.

At the other end, Danny Mitchley has a chance from 20 yards but can't hit the target.

A look through the BBC Sport archives found this great clip from April 2017, during the Evo-Stik Premier League clash between Halesowen Town and Skelmersdale United.

A dog took to the ground during the first half and play had to be suspended for six minutes.

Dave Hawley, Halesowen Town's commercial manager, said: "It was crazy - everyone was trying to get it and it kept running off."

Eventually its owner, Halesowen defender Asa Charlton, successfully tackled it so the match could resume. Halesowen ended up winning 1-0.

    Mark Beck

A goal right at the start of the first half and now a goal right at the end of it. We're into first-half injury time and the away side concede a free-kick close to the right touchline.

The ball is swung in and Mark Beck gets a glancing header on to it and it beats Ben Barnes and it's 2-0.

  10. Postpublished at 45 mins

    Harrogate 1-0 Skelmersdale

Harrogate have a chance to double their lead as Skelmersdale defender Joe Herbert misjudges a long hoof forward from goalkeeper Joe Cracknell and it gives Jack Muldoon a chance to run at the visiting goal.

But Muldoon's low strike from the edge of the penalty area is saved by the legs of Ben Barnes.

At the other end Lloyd Ellams tries his luck with an extremely ambitious 30-yard free-kick. It goes out of the ground.

  11. Money - even if you losepublished at 39 mins

    Harrogate 1-0 Skelmersdale

Losing teams will receive a share of prize money in the FA Cup first round to lessen the financial impact of ties being played behind closed doors.

Those previously beaten in round one got no prize money but will get 25% of the prize money - £5,657 - while the winners get the rest - £16,972.

The scheme could be extended for the second round, which takes place on the weekend 28-29 November - before the current lockdown in England is scheduled to end.

  12. Postpublished at 36 mins

    Harrogate 1-0 Skelmersdale

Harrogate have a chance for a counter-attack but Jack Muldoon's cross from the right wing is ahead of Tom Walker in the middle and it is wasted.

  13. Postpublished at 32 mins

    Harrogate 1-0 Skelmersdale

We said Emini Adegbenro was the danger man for Skelmersdale and he causes problems inside the Harrogate penalty area. He shows a good burst of pace to create some space but it is excellent defending from Jake Lawlor, who blocks the shot wide for a corner, which comes to nothing.

The tier nine side are coming more into the game now.

  14. YELLOW CARDpublished at 30 mins

    Harrogate 1-0 Skelmersdale

Lloyd Ellams of Skelmersdale gets himself into the book, sliding in late on Harrogate's Josh Falkingham, who has been on the receiving end of some strong challenges.

    Harrogate 1-0 Skelmersdale

There will be no FA Cup replays during the 2020-21 season to "ease pressure" on the football calendar.

In qualifying, ties level after 90 minutes went straight to penalties to decide who went through to the next round.

In the first round, ties level after 90 minutes will have an additional 30 minutes of extra time. If there is still no winner then they will be decided by a penalty shootout.

In the fourth qualifying round, Chesterfield beat Stockport on penalties after the tie ended 1-1 at full-time.

However, the tie was ordered to be replayed , externalafter Chesterfield were found guilty by the Football Association of fielding an ineligible player.

  17. A chance to impresspublished at 20:12 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2020

    Harrogate 1-0 Skelmersdale

What a chance it is to impress for these Skelmersdale United players. With the game on television, this could be a career-creating night for them. It was a horrible start for the visitors, conceding in the opening 60 seconds, but they've been decent since then.

The first yellow of the day and it goes to Harrogate defender Dan Jones. It's a needless booking as well as he brings down Danny Mitchley and then boots the ball away. Alex Griffiths again launches the ball into the box from deep, but it comes to nothing.
