Great play - that's what you want Matty Kennedy to do. Great cross in and I think it's actually just come off the back of the head of their defender. Best and I think the first proper chance that Northern Ireland have had.

A good spell by NI but this time Matty Kennedy's cross is too high.

Kennedy is at left wing-back today meaning Stuart Dallas is on the right.

Paddy McNair's corner finds Craig Cathcart but he heads over the bar.

A good run and cross from debutant Matty Kennedy finds Liam Boyce at the back post but his header is deflected wide.

Jonny Evans turns round to pass it back to his keeper and he's brought down by Denis Alibec. The referee has a word with the Romania striker but no booking.

I'm impressed by Daniel Ballard and his passing - when he gets onto the halfway line he picks his man in midfield or out of the front two, very good distribution from him.

It's nice to hear real fans instead of fake crowd noise.

A big cheer from the fans as Paddy McNair does a pirouette to get away from two Romanians.

A poor first touch by Liam Boyce costs him. Ali McCann picks him out but Boyce just runs into Iulian Cristea.

Romania break down the right and Florin Tanase's shot is blocked by Michael Smith, who did well to throw himself towards the ball.

The stakes are polar opposites, of course, and the atmosphere is too.

Last week, just over 1,000 home supporters created a pretty good noise against Slovakia despite being so low in number.

Tonight is a different story, though. A lone drummer has done their best to generate some singing, but it's been pretty flat in truth.

Not helped by what has been a poor game.

Spark needed, big time.

Paddy McNair finds Liam Boyce, who hooks a volley well over the bar. It was a pre-worked routine I think. Boyce just drifted behind the defenders into space and McNair picked him out.

Harry Wilson has put Wales ahead against Finland. A win there would *probably* mean a World Cup play-off place.

Northern Ireland can't get the ball for long enough to find any sort of attack. Romania are great at keeping the ball and the possession statistics will show that but there's no threat, but they are denying Northern Ireland any chance to build any sort of attack. Poor game so far.

Alan Ferguson: This ref in the Northern Ireland game is giving nothing our way... but then again is giving nothing to Romania either! Literally nothing to either side. A few tasty tackles. He’s not interested. Fair play.

There are 1,000 fans in Windsor Park this evening to watch this dead rubber game, and it's pelting it down. Brave lot.

They play it low towards the penalty spot, Denis Alibec swings and misses the ball and wants a penalty. But there was no foul on him.
