Boreham Wood goalscorer Matt Rhead, speaking to BT Sport: "We followed what the gaffer said and we're into the next round. I couldn't miss [my goal] really. It was a team performance. We lost in the league last week and we knew this would be a tough game.

"I've been the underdog many a time and the fans [watching from the fences] get behind you, but to get to the third round for the first time in the club's history is brilliant.

"This is a lot harder than being an underdog, like we were against Southend. You have to turn up and we put them to bed comfortably. It was a good mentality from the lads and a great result."

There are several man of the match contenders for Boreham Wood. Matt Rhead is one of them after capping a dominant performance with his side's third goal.

Canvey Island can be proud of getting this far but Boreham Wood proved too strong for the team from the eight tier of English football.
