Solihull Moors came the closest of today's non-league sides to causing an upset as they led 1-0 at League Two side Morecambe in a lunchtime kick-off.

However, the Shrimps eventually triumphed 4-2 after extra time in a cup thriller as Cole Stockton (above) netted two and played a part in Morecambe's other two goals as well.

King's Lynn Town did not have as enjoyable an afternoon, unable to follow up their first-round shock at Port Vale as they lost 6-1 at 2008 FA Cup winners Portsmouth.

There were minor shocks caused by League Two pair Exeter City and Cheltenham Town as they ousted League One sides Gillingham and Crewe respectively.

Well, second-round Saturday hasn't quite provided the shocks that first-round Saturday did.

Three weeks ago, league teams were falling left, right and centre as the minnows took centre stage.

There's still plenty of time for that on Sunday and Monday, though with 10 non-league teams still to come.

Jack Taylor's early goal is the difference at the break.

But Chorley have hit the frame of the goal twice and the National League North minnows aren't out of it.

Chorley hit the post again!

This time it's tricky winger Elliot Newby, who advances forward and lets fly from just outside the area.

His shot rattles the left-hand upright.

Again, Christy Pym was nowhere near it.

Former Posh manager Barry Fry, now director of football at the Weston Homes Stadium, is in the stands.

Peterborough mount a counter-attack from a Chorley free-kick but don't capitalise.

Mo Eisa is the man who shoots, cutting back onto his left foot outside the area, but doesn't catch it right.

His low effort doesn't trouble the Magpies keeper too much.

Posh captain Mark Beevers gets on the end of Ryan Broom's inswinging corner from the left.

But the giant centre-back sends his header into the ground and it's a straightforward gather for Magpies keeper Matthew Unwin.

There wasn't much pace on the header.

Chorley are in the second round of the competition for just the third time in the club's history.

But the National League North side do not look overawed on this stage.

Half an hour gone and Jack Taylor's fifth goal of the season separates the sides.

Posh, second in League One, look set to avoid an upset as things stand.

But they had a scare moments ago when Harry Cardwell rattled the post for the visitors.

A flurry of chances all of a sudden.

Chorley defender Andy Halls shoots at goal from 30 yards out, and his low shot is gathered by Christy Pym before it heads into the bottom left-hand corner.

Then the hosts carve out another opening.

Ryan Broom plays a ball around the corner for Mo Eisa, who hits the side-netting from a narrow angle.

Another Peterborough free-kick, and this one is off target as well.

Siriki Dembele is the nominated taker this time.

He curls his effort from 25 yards over the wall, but the ball sails over the bar too.

Up the other end, Harry Cardwell has a long-range shot that home keeper Christy Pym gathers at the second attempt.

Good goalkeeping from Posh's Christy Pym, who comes off his line speedily to gather a through ball.

There was just a bit too much on the pass from Oliver Shenton, and Chorley striker Connor Hall couldn't get on the end of it.

Mo Eiso goes again, from all of 35 yards this time, and Chorley keeper Matthew Unwin dives to punch the shot away from the top left-hand corner.

Speculative, but it was heading in.

It's Mo Eisa in the end who has a dig from the set piece, and his shot deflects up off the wall before being cleared away by the visitors.

Peterborough have been firmly on top in the opening stages.

Posh forward Siriki Dembele has been a bag of tricks so far this evening, and is tripped a few yards outside the box.

The free-kick is centrally positioned, and several men in blue shirts fancy having a strike at goal.

Peterborough, good footballing side that they are, are pinging it around quite nicely.

Boss Darren Ferguson has shown non-league Chorley plenty of respect by naming his strongest side available.

Striker Jonson Clarke-Harris missed out this evening with a knock.

Posh have a good recent Cup record they are looking to extend.

Cheltenham Town are into the third round for the first time since 2013.

The team who are second in League Two beat Crewe Alexandra, 14th in League One.

George Lloyd's brave header in the first half of extra time is the difference.
