Messi has no options inside the box so instead tries to squeeze in a shot between an Jan Oblak and his near post but the Atletico keeper makes the save.

Yannick Carrasco appears to beat the offside trap and breaks towards the area. Barcelona get back well and block Carrasco's cross before the whistle goes, presumably for Carrasco having been offside when he made his run.

After a high intensity start this game has gone a bit flat now. Atletico Madrid are trying to stretch the Barcelona defence but the visitors are keeping their shape well.

New batteries in, play gets back under way with a Lionel Messi free kick. It is floated in but again easy for the Atletico defence to deal with.

Bit of a break in play at the moment as the referee appears to have the battery in his talkback device changed.

Yannick Carrasco is booked for a foul on Sergi Roberto. For a moment Koke, who was booked earlier, thought he was getting a yellow card but the referee confirms it is in fact Carrasco. Two Atletico players on yellows now and need to be careful.

There's just a feeling that Barcelona are starting to take control of this game, not by much but they have the edge in the midfield battle.

An effortless, perfectly weighted pass by Lionel Messi sends Sergi Roberto through but there's still plenty of work to do and in the end Roberto's cross is deflected behind for a corner. Miralem Pjanic's delivery is then headed away.

A lovely ball from Lionel Messi over the top finds Antoine Griezmann and the flag stays down but the striker's touch is poor and Atletico Madrid sweep up the danger.

Ousmane Dembele again gets the better of the full-back and hits a ball to the back post. It is eventually worked to Lionel Messi just inside the area and the forward has a rare moment of lack of clarity in his thinking as he hits something that is neither a cross or a shot out of play.
