    Sparta Prague 0-1 Celtic

After a sloppy pass from Kristoffer Ajer, Celtic are under pressure. Michal Travnik, looking suspiciously offside, cuts inside to have a shot at goal but it's a feeble effort and Scott Bain gathers with ease.

Superb goal. Superbly taken. Back to his best with that one. Edouard was very clever to come back onside. He had the centre-half on toast. It's early days but that's a really important goal

GOAL Sparta Prague 0-1 Celticpublished at 15 mins

    Odsonne Edouard

Odsonne Edouard checks his run to stay onside and then gathers a pass from Callum McGregor midway into the Sparta half.

He goes one way and then another to get away from his man inside the penalty box then drills an angled shot across the goalkeeper and in off the far post.

    A terrific goal.

Karlsson is the danger player for Sparta. He was excellent in the game at Celtic park and he's been good so far here too.

Sparta's Swedish forward has already done about six or seven step-overs and likes the direct approach...

  5. Postpublished at 11 mins

    Sparta Prague 0-0 Celtic

Olivier Ntcham is a bit out of sorts for Celtic as he is easily bumped off the ball by a much smaller opponent. He is then guilty of a sloppy pass near halfway right in front of manager Neil Lennon, who looks less than impressed.

  6. Postpublished at 7 mins

    Sparta Prague 0-0 Celtic

A horrible slice from goalie Florin Nita gifts Celtic a corner, but, again, the trip up the pitch from the visitors' big men is a wasted one.

Celtic are giving the ball away in bad positions trying to play their way out. Scott Bain was relieved to see that one go by his post.

  8. CLOSE!published at 5 mins

    Sparta Prague 0-0 Celtic

Celtic keeper Scott Bain can only stand and watch as David Moberg-Karlsson thunders a shot narrowly wide from the edge of the box.

    That was travelling!

    Sparta Prague 0-0 Celtic

Callum McGregor is calling for a penalty as his cross is deflected out for a corner by Dominik Pletachy, who actually had his hands behind his back as is the fashion these days.

The corner kick is a mess.

  10. Postpublished at 1 min

    Sparta Prague 0-0 Celtic

A promising opening move for Celtic as Hatem Elhamed bombs forward from right-back to slide in a low cross. The keeper is on his toes with a good interception as Odsonne Edouard lurks with intent.

A moment of silence to remember the great Diego Maradona, then a blast of the whistle from German referee Tobias Stieler and away we go in the chilly Czech capital.

  13. Lennon looks for Celtic reactionpublished at 17:50 Greenwich Mean Time 26 November 2020

    Sparta Prague v Celtic (17:55)

Celtic manager Neil Lennon speaking to BT Sport:

"We have to win the game if we have any chance of qualifying. We need to play a lot better than we did in the corresponding fixture. Our away record has been decent in Europe over the last couple of years. We're going to need all of that tonight."

"Sparta are very good on the counter and quite clinical. But we gave them the initiative in the last game.

"We want a reaction from that, we didn't do ourselves justice at all. I really hope we can play the style of football we can."

On the return of Christopher Jullien:

"It's great to have him back. He's worked very hard to get back to match fitness. It's important not only for him to play tonight but get the 90 minutes. Him and Ajer had a good partnership last year so hopefully he can come in and do the job we know he can."

  14. Sparta leaking goals on league dutypublished at 17:47 Greenwich Mean Time 26 November 2020

    Sparta Prague v Celtic (17:55)

Since that night in Glasgow, Sparta have lost both league matches played to lose ground on city rivals Slavia in the title race.

Tonight's hosts were beaten 3-1 at Viktoria Plzen and suffered a surprise 4-2 defeat at home to Ceske Budejovice.

I don't know if that just adds insult to injury or offers hope for Celtic's revenge mission. A bit of both, I guess.

  15. A night to forget at Celtic Parkpublished at 17:42 Greenwich Mean Time 26 November 2020

    Sparta Prague v Celtic (17:55)

So, what happened when Sparta and Celtic met on 5 November?

The Czech side were decimated by injuries and illness while also lacking match practice given their domestic league had been suspended.

They had also been well beaten by Lille and AC Milan in their previous group games.

It was therefore something of a shock to see Lukas Julis bang in a hat-trick and Ladislav Krejci adding late salt to the wound as Neil Lennon's side fell to their second heaviest ever home defeat in Europe.

I hope that Julien is ready. It'll be tough for him to come back in on a cold European night. He won't be fully match fit but his presence is needed at the back.

  17. 'No panic at Celtic,' insists Lennonpublished at 17:36 Greenwich Mean Time 26 November 2020

    Sparta Prague v Celtic (17:55)

It's been something of a rough patch for the Scottish champions, with just two wins out of their last eight games in all competitions.

They sit 11 points behind Premiership leaders Rangers, albeit with two games in hand, and some fans are getting restless.

"All of us are not happy with how things are panning out," said Lennon yesterday as he spoke of the "hysteria" surrounding this slump.

"I feel strong," he continued, while adding "there's no panic" at the club.

  19. Story so far for Celtic...published at 17:29 Greenwich Mean Time 26 November 2020

    Sparta Prague v Celtic (17:55)

Celtic thoroughly enjoyed the Europa League group phase last season, beating Lazio home and away on their way to topping their section. This time round, it's been a bit of a horror story.

AC Milan left Celtic Park with a 3-1 win, then a 2-0 lead was surrendered in a draw away to Lille.

Much worse was to follow, with a makeshift Sparta side dishing out a 4-1 hammering in Glasgow.
