Liverpool were very quick on the counter-attack. Looking at Gini Wijnaldum I thought is he going to pass it? But he waited and waited and got a little opportunity - and his finish was exemplary, it really was.

GOAL - Liverpool 2-0 Wolvespublished at 58 mins

    Georginio Wijnaldum

    What a beautiful goal!

Jordan Henderson springs the attack and Georginio Wijnaldum, from inside the D, bends it past Rui Patrício in front of the Kop.

    There was no stopping that.

Wolves cannot get out of their own half. Liverpool are pressing but they need to be more clinical in the final third.

That was almost too good and too easy. Great ball from Mo Salah but Andy Robertson's first touch was magnificent. I think that Sadio Mane was a bit surprised by that. It was that good.

Another chance for Sadio Mane and he puts it wide from about 15 yards. Lovely play by Andy Robertson. Liverpool have stepped up a gear.

If points were awarded for possession Liverpool would have this done and dusted.

Play has been stopped. Is there something wrong with the referee's technical equipment? Whatever it was it's sorted after a minute or so and play resumes.

    Liverpool 1-0 Wolves

Lots more work for Liverpool to do. Wolves are a very good second-half side.

Will Diogo Jota come on against his former club? And what about 18-year-old Fabio Silva, Wolves club record £35m signing from Porto.

Both teams have useful scorers on the bench.

This is what we all thought that VAR would be used for - because they got the right decision. In fairness to the referee as soon as he got the shout to go to the monitor it didn't take him long. Sometimes we've been sat in grounds for four or five minutes to get a resolution to the problem. We've actually managed to get one right.

Ash Williams: Why is Coady not booked? He’s clearly tried to cheat to get a penalty.

Robert Leight: How is Coady not getting a yellow card there?! Is diving not a bookable offence anymore?

Pail Walmsley: SURELY a yellow card for diving!?
