    FT: West Ham 2-2 Brighton

    West Ham United

West Ham midfielder Tomas Soucek said: "We wanted to win but to be losing twice and still get a draw is maybe a fair result.

"We want to get the first goal in the next game. We want to win each game so we have to prepare for Southampton tomorrow and I think it will be a similar game as it was today."

  4. 'The win was there for us'published at 16:24 Greenwich Mean Time 27 December 2020

    FT: West Ham 2-2 Brighton

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton manager Graham Potter on Sky Sports: "It is disappointing not to take three points, I felt it was there for us. We didn't defend the corner well for the second goal and those details punish you at this level. That's on us, we have to be better. But overall I felt comfortable in the game.

"We didn't do much wrong, we could have managed the game better. I don't celebrate goals now until everything has been checked - you neveer know any more.

"We need to keep working to get three points. Tariq Lamptey won't be available for the next few games either."

    West Bromwich Albion

West Brom full-back Kieran Gibbs, speaking to Sky Sports: "The biggest thing the manager has been focusing on is getting back to basics. Liverpool are the best club team in the world and they have proved that. We have to give 100%.

"These opportunities don't come around very often and the players need to relish this as a team. We want to enjoy it. We have shown signs against a few of the top teams this season that we are can cause problems."

More Anfield joy for Sam Allardyce?

He's the last opposition manager to win a Premier League game at Liverpool, doing so with Crystal Palace in April 2017.

The Reds are on an unbeaten run of 66 top-flight home games, winning their last eight.

    Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp is one victory short of recording 100 at Anfield across all competitions - only Bob Paisley (132) and Kenny Dalglish (135) have hit that milestone in fewer matches than the boss, who is taking charge of his 141st home fixture.

It's a gigantic ask for West Brom today. Not even Storm Bella is blowing to help Big Sam here.

It is hard for West Brom to stay up, I thought that from the start of the season. At Anfield it is incredibly difficult but weird things are happening in the Premier League this season.

This is Liverpool's final game at Anfield of 2020, a year which saw them end a 30-year wait for the title.

They have a near-impeccable league record at home during the calendar year, winning 15 out of 16 matches and taking 46 points from a possible 48.

The only team to stop them from winning? Burnley who secured a point in a 1-1 draw on 11 July.

  16. 'Hammers need work'published at 16:10 Greenwich Mean Time 27 December 2020

    FT: West Ham 2-2 Brighton

    Don Hutchison
Ex-Liverpool midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Brighton deserved something out of the game, and West Ham need work on the training ground. David Moyes has improved a lot of players but he has to work on Seb Haller who was anonymous.

It's a fair question about West Ham's approach. If West Ham had been more aggressive and played some of the attacking players they had on the bench from the start it may have been different.

The draw doesn't really help either side. For West Ham it's a nothing result.

  17. Postpublished at 16:09 Greenwich Mean Time 27 December 2020

Liverpool v West Brom up next. Kick-off at 16:30 GMT.

We'll start building up to that game while bringing you all the reaction from West Ham. Definitely time for you to grab another plate of Christmas dinner leftovers though.

  18. Postpublished at 16:08 Greenwich Mean Time 27 December 2020

    FT: West Ham 2-2 Brighton

Questionable team selection from David Moyes but his two half-time substitutes were involved in Ben Johnson's equaliser to make it 1-1 and definitely helped improved the Hammers in the second half.

Brighton really need to start making the most of their possession.
