  5. Motherwell looking up - Robinsonpublished at 14:41 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2020

    Motherwell v Hibernian (15:00)

Motherwell manager Stephen Robinson is seeking a third win in three days after his side were awarded 3-0 victories on Thursday for Covid-19 breaches by Kilmarnock and St Mirren.

"There's no reason why we wouldn't have got the points anyway," Robinson tells BBC Scotland Sportsound.

"But certainly we've moved up the table from a false position. We're looking up and this is a big game against a Hibs team who are flying. We want the win that would put us just two points behind them."

On debutant goalkeeper Jordan Archer, Robinson added: "Jordan and Aaron Chapman, there's nothing between them. I was going to do it last wee, but Jordan wasn't right to go in. So we do it this week and I'm confident he'll do well."

  6. Covid shadow over Fir Parkpublished at 14:40 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2020

    Motherwell v Hibernian (15:00)

Easter Road brings together Motherwell, who have benefitted this week from the award of two 3-0 wins for Covid protocol breaches by St Mirren and Kilmarnock, and Hibs, whose head coach, Jack Ross, who strongly condemned the SPFL decision.

Ross described it as a "disappointing day for Scottish football" and said the punishment was too harsh as the clubs were not seeking a "sporting advantage" when players and staff broke social distancing guidelines.

What adds spice to today's game at Fir Park is that those two wins draw Well to within four points of fourth-top Hibs.

  7. I've got sympathy for every manager - Ricepublished at 14:37 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2020

    Hamilton Academical v Kilmarnock (15:00)

Hamilton head coach Brian Rice tells BBC Sportsound: "Marios [Ogkmpoe] has got an injury problem that we are trying to get to the root of, but the boys who have been in deserve another chance to go again.

On the 3-0 win awarded to his side after St Mirren's Covid breach, he says: "The biggest incentive for us today is to kick on from the Aberdeen game. The St Mirren result was out of our hands.

"I've got sympathy for every manger that's dealing with this. It's not great for football in general. It was the first time, but I don't think it'll be the last."

  8. Clark a big miss for Unitedpublished at 14:35 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2020

    Livingston v Dundee United (15:00)

While United appear to have got off lightly on the playing front despite their Covid outbreak, there is one notable absentee.

Former Rangers striker Nicky Clark has scored 58% of their league goals this season - seven out of 12. That's the highest proportion of any player for any side in this season’s Premiership.

    Livingston v Dundee United (15:00)

Academy coach Thomas Courts will be in the dugout for United today with manager Micky Mellon and his backroom staff in self isolation.

  10. Different look to Buddies and Donspublished at 14:32 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2020

    St Mirren v Aberdeen (15:00)

It's two very different sides that take to the field this afternoon from the one seven days ago in the Scottish League Cup, when St Mirren won 2-1.

Jim Goodwin makes two changes to the hosts. Former Dons defender Joe Shaughnessy starts against his old club, while Ethan Erhahon also comes into the midfield. Sam Foley and Cameron MacPherson drop to the bench.

Aberdeen welcome back the trio who were forced to self-isolate due to Covid-19 after being away with the Scotland Under-21 squad. That means the first-choice midfield pairing of Lewis Ferguson and Ross McCrorie replace Funso Ojo and Dean Campbell. Connor McLennan returns to the squad too but begins on the bench.

The one other change for Aberdeen is centre-half Ash Taylor starting after being dropped last week, with injured winger Niall McGinn missing out altogether.

  11. Moyo in for Accies; Three changes for Killiepublished at 14:29 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2020

    Hamilton Academical v Kilmarnock (15:00)

Hamilton head coach Brian Rice has made just one change to the side that earned a 1-1 draw with Aberdeen in their last outing, as goalscorer in that game Marios Ogkmpoe, who is injured, drops out for David Moyo.

As for Kilmarnock, manager Alex Dyer makes three changes to the side that defeated Ross County 3-1 a fortnight ago.

Defender Clevid Dikamona and midfielders Greg Kiltie and Alan Power all come into the side for Gary Dicker, Rory McKenzie and the suspended Stuart Findlay.

  13. Serrano back for Livi; Three United changespublished at 14:24 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2020

    Livingston v Dundee United (15:00)

Just one change for Livingston, with Julien Serrano replacing the benched Steve Lawson at left-back from the side that beat Ayr United 4-0 in last week's Scottish League Cup tie.

United, who have nine players in self isolation due to Covid-19 protocols make three changes to the team that defeated Hamilton Academical last month.

American midfielders Dillon Powers and Ian Harkes and Scotland striker Shankland replace Paul McMullan, Nicky Clark and the suspended Calum Butcher.

Butcher, McMullan and Clark are not on the bench, which may indicate they are among the nine unavailable for selection.

  14. Archer handed Well debut; Hibs make four changespublished at 14:23 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2020

    Motherwell v Hibernian (15:00)

Goalkeeper Jordan Archer makes his Motherwell debut in one of four changes from the League Cup defeat to St Johnstone.

Scotland cap Archer, 27, replaces Aaron Chapman, while Nathan McGinley is preferred to Ricki Lamie at full-back.

Allan Campbell, back from self-isolation, takes over from Robbie Crawford in midfield, while Devante Cole makes way for Chris Long up front.

Hibs also show four changes from their previous outing, a League Cup win over Dundee.

Lewis Stevenson returns from injury to replace Sean Mackie at left-back, with centre-half Darren McGregor dropping out for captain Paul Hanlon.

Midfielder Melker Hallberg and forward Drey Wright also start, with Stevie Mallan and Christian Doidge making way.

  16. 'Difficult decision for government'published at 14:19 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2020

    Michael Stewart
Former Scotland midfielder on BBC Sportsound

Dundee United's photocall, criticised by national clinical director Jason Leitch, has been dominating the talk on Sportsound...

    Quote Message

Nobody wants to be shutting football down, but public health trumps all and it is a very difficult situation for the government. But these are ludicrous situations for clubs to get into when there is such scrutiny on them
