    HT: Celtic 0-0 St Johnstone

St Johnstone are back out for the second half. No sign of Celtic yet. Is Neil Lennon still giving the team talk that could save his job?

Celtic need to move St Johnstone's three central defenders around, they need to change something, maybe bring on Leigh Griffiths for some sharpness

    Quote Message

From a Celtic point of view, it's painful. There's been nothing about them and St Johnstone have been comfortable

  4. HALF-TIME Celtic 0-0 St Johnstonepublished at 15:50 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2020

Celtic are huffing and puffing and they are nowhere near blowing St Johnstone down.

The visitors are sitting deep and the defending champions are struggling to find any room to manoeuvre.

There has been one big chance - and that fell to the Perth side as Stevie May failed to bury a shot with the goal at his mercy.

Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard broke clear but his effort was well stopped by Zander Clark.

  5. Postpublished at 15:49 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2020

    Celtic 0-0 St Johnstone

Confusion at the back for Celtic as Ali McCann hares into the penalty area from the left and cuts the ball back for Stevie May. The Saints striker can't get any kind of decent contact on it and the hosts eventually clear.

  6. Postpublished at 15:46 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2020

    Celtic 0-0 St Johnstone

Odsonne Edouard is in a lot of room midway into the St Johnstone half, with only Jamie McCart in his way, but the Celtic striker can't get past the defender, who keeps calm and sticks in a foot at the right time.

  7. Postpublished at 15:43 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2020

    Celtic 0-0 St Johnstone

Celtic with the lion's share of possession but they haven't seen the whites of Zander Clark's eyes since that chance for Odsonne Edouard a while back now.

  8. Postpublished at 15:37 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2020

    Celtic 0-0 St Johnstone

A bit of frustration creeping in for Celtic as Ryan Christie lashes a long-range effort miles off target.

It's all a bit nicey, nicey from Celtic just now. They need someone to take this game by the scruff of the neck

  10. Postpublished at 15:32 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2020

    Celtic 0-0 St Johnstone

There must be nine St Johnstone players camped on the edge of their own penalty box as a Tom Rogic shot is charged down.

  11. Postpublished at 15:29 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2020

    Celtic 0-0 St Johnstone

Stevie May has gone wide left, with David Wotherspoon switching to the right as Saints sub Chris Kane takes up the central striking role.

  12. Kane on for O'Halloranpublished at 15:27 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2020

    Celtic 0-0 St Johnstone

This looks like bad news for St Johnstone as Michael O'Halloran goes down in a heap.

He's hobbling off now, with Chris Kane the man coming on for the visitors.

  13. Postpublished at 15:25 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2020

    Celtic 0-0 St Johnstone

Callum McGregor slides a straight pass in behind the St Johnstone defence and Odsonne Edouard is on to it.

The striker tries to flick it past Zander Clark but the Saints keeper stands tall to block the effort.

The less said about Diego Laxalt's follow-up effort the better...

  14. 'Celtic over shock of Saints chance'published at 15:20 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2020

    Celtic 0-0 St Johnstone

    Quote Message

Celtic have got over that little shock of St Johnstone creating the first chance and have settled into the game. Again, they are relying on the two wing-backs to be creators. So many players in central areas that it's so hard to pick a pass.

  15. CLOSE!published at 15:16 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2020

    Celtic 0-0 St Johnstone

Now Celtic threaten as Christopher Jullien arrives at the back post area to nod the ball back into the mixer. Tom Rogic is in the right place but can only head wide.

  16. CLOSE!published at 15:14 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2020

    Celtic 0-0 St Johnstone

    A huge let-off for Celtic!

From a St Johnstone free kick, the ball drops to Stevie May at the back post, just six or seven yards out. He thrashes at it and Nir Bitton gets his head on the shot, although it may have been going wide.

May should have been bursting the net there.

    Celtic 0-0 St Johnstone

Neat passing on the edge of the St Johnstone penalty area and Odsonne Edouard is almost on to return ball from Tom Rogic.

The striker has to cut back but does eventually get a shot away and there's a scare for the visitors as a defender sticks out a boot but the ball pops up into the arms of keeper Zander Clark, who was already flat on the turf.

There are so many bodies in midfield, I think the wide areas are where the game might be won

  19. Postpublished at 15:04 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2020

    Celtic 0-0 St Johnstone

A bit of a scruffy opening as the last of the winter sunshine fades away. The ball has been in the air a lot in the first few minutes.

  20. KICK-OFFpublished at 15:01 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2020

    Celtic 0-0 St Johnstone

A peep of the whistle from referee David Munro and away we go.
