Early goal at Oakwell and it's probably gone against the recent form book.

Preston have it through Sean Maguire (not the lad who was once in Grange Hill), who stooped at the back post to nod in a corner from the left.

Just has enough on it to cross the line.

League One and League Two update

Top-of-the-table Hull took the lead at Blackpool through Mallik Wilkes, but Jerry Yates has equalised for the Seasiders on the stroke of half-time.

Jo Pigott's penalty has put AFC Wimbledon ahead at Sunderland, who have been hit by a coronavirus outbreak.

In League Two, Salford have gone ahead against leaders Newport. Tom Clarke nodded in from a corner just before the break.

And bottom club Southend have taken a first-minute head at home against Grimsby.

    Bournemouth 0-0 Wycombe

Now these two haven't met in a league fixture since January 2012.

The Cherries won 2-0 that afternoon in League One and Jason Tindall would no doubt take a repeat scoreline to put his side back on top of the Championship this evening.

Wycombe are without a win in their past eight.

  4. KICK-OFFpublished at 19:45 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December 2020

Right then - shall we get going with four more matches in the Championship and a hatful of others in Leagues One and Two?

    Why not?

  5. Toothless Lions look to end winless runpublished at 19:42 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December 2020

Bristol City v Millwall (19:45 GMT)

    MillwallImage source, PA Media

When Millwall last recorded victory it moved them up to fourth in the Championship table.

However, a run of 10 games without a win since that 2-0 success at Preston has seen them slip to 17th and they are now closer to the bottom three than the top six.

They'll be looking to get their season back on track against an inconsistent Bristol City.

Dean Holden's men are just a point outside the play-offs but fell to a surprise 2-0 defeat at struggling Rotherham on Saturday.

  6. Could Tykes launch unlikely play-off push?published at 19:39 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December 2020

    Barnsley v Preston (19:45 GMT)

    BarnsleyImage source, PA Media

Saturday's win at lowly Sheffield Wednesday meant that since Valerien Ismail took over at Barnsley in October only league leaders Norwich have picked up more points.

They host a Preston side who have generally been very good on their travels and very not good at home.

However, they were stung by a 3-0 defeat by Luton on Saturday and start today's game two points and two places below the Tykes.

  7. Hard times for Forest and Owlspublished at 19:36 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December 2020

Nottingham Forest v Sheffield Wednesday (19:45 GMT)

Hughton and PulisImage source, PA Media

It has been a disastrous start to 2020-21 for both of these Premier League founding members.

Wednesday started the season with a 12-point deduction, later reduced to six, and sacked Garry Monk in November to replace him with veteran Tony Pulis.

So far it has yet to have the desired impact with the rock bottom Owls having picked up just two points from his six games in charge.

Forest also made an early season change in the dug-out with Sabri Lamouchi going out and Chris Hughton coming in.

Though Hughton did lead them to their first win their recent form has been dreadful and they start the night above the relegation zone on goal difference only.

A game both teams need to win and neither can afford to lose.

  8. Can Chairboys upset Cherries?published at 19:34 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December 2020

    Bournemouth v Wycombe (19:45 GMT)

    AinsworthImage source, PA Media

It's a game of contrasts at the Vitality Stadium.

Hosts Bournemouth are second in the league and spent the previous five season playing in the Premier League.

Visitors Wycombe are second bottom and playing in the second tier for the first time in their history.

The Cherries were in brilliant form on Saturday with a 5-0 thumping of Huddersfield and a repeat of that level of performance could mean a long night for the Chairboys.

  9. Will Hornets v Bees have a sting it its tail?published at 19:32 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December 2020

    Watford v Brentford (20:00 GMT)

    DeeneyImage source, PA Media

In a potential case of saving the best for last, the final one of today's six Championship games sees fourth host sixth.

Vladimir Ivic's men have recorded back-to-back-wins after their defeat by Cardiff at the start of the month and could go second with a win tonight.

The Hornets also boat a terrific record against the Bees, they are unbeaten in the past 16 meetings between the two sides.

You'd imagine Brentford boss Thomas Frank, who is looking to lead the club to the Premier League for the first time, wont be much of a guy for historical stats.

Certainly not ones like that anyway.

We'll start our look ahead at the evening's fixtures with the one that kicks-off last, but arguably promises the most....

  11. Postpublished at 19:29 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December 2020

The good news is after Rob did a sterling effort to keep awake through that match, is that we've got five more Championship fixtures on the way this evening and plenty more in Leagues One and Two as well.

There's bound to be goals there!

  12. FULL-TIMEpublished at 19:25 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December 2020

    QPR 0-0 Stoke

It's over in west London as the teams take a point each.

QPR are now six without a win, while Stoke's winless run extends to three games.

But the Potters have now kept 10 clean sheets in the league and five in a row on the road.

With all due respect to both clubs, we won't dwell on this one any longer.

  13. Postpublished at 90+4 mins

    QPR 0-0 Stoke

QPR forward Ilias Chair goes for goal from over 25 yards out.

    It's over the bar.

  14. Postpublished at 19:21 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December 2020

    League Two update

Six matches also kicked-off early in League Two.

Leyton Orient have a 1-0 lead at the break at Morecambe while Scunthorpe are level at 1-1 against managerless Barrow.

Leaders Newport County are currently being held at 0-0 at Salford City.

  15. Postpublished at 90 mins

    QPR 0-0 Stoke

Into five minutes of added time.

I'm not really sure where all those stoppages came from, although there have been several substitutions.

On the plus side, it's plenty of time for a grandstand finish...

  16. Postpublished at 89 mins

    QPR 0-0 Stoke

    Late chance for Rangers.

They burst forward down the left and the ball is pulled back to Chris Willock on the edge of the box.

He shoots, but is off balance. His effort is nowhere near the goal.

  17. Postpublished at 88 mins

    QPR 0-0 Stoke

QPR conceded in the 89th minute against Reading on Saturday.

Will there be heartbreak for either side tonight?

  18. Son of Dychepublished at 19:17 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December 2020

    League One update

For those of you who like footballing dynasties, Max Dyche, son of Burnley manager Sean, is making his first start for Northampton Town in League One tonight.

The 17-year-old defender came off the bench during Saturday's defeat at Crewe.

Can he help the Cobblers to a better result at Oxford?

Meanwhile, six fixtures are already under way in the division with Accrington's trip to Gillingham neaaring conclusion.

They are 2-0 up inside the last 10 minutes there.

Elsewhere, Rochdale have an early lead at Wigan while leaders Hull are currently goalless at Blackpool.

  19. YELLOW CARDpublished at 86 mins

    QPR 0-0 Stoke

Stoke defender Harry Souttar gets shown yellow for a late challenge on Ilias Chair in the centre-circle.

That was a bit of a nasty one.

  20. SUBSTITUTIONSpublished at 83 mins

    QPR 0-0 Stoke

    More changes for the visitors.

James McClean and Nick Powell head off.

Tashan Oakley-Boothe and Thibaud Verlinden enter the fray.
