  2. Saints aim to end poor record at Arsenalpublished at 14:55 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2020

Arsenal v Southampton (Wed, 18:00 GMT)

    Southampton

Southampton have never won away at Arsenal in the Premier League, with their last win back in 1987.

But does Wednesday represent their best chance to end that run?

"I remember the last game and we should have won 3-1 or 4-1, but we drew [2-2] so we could have already got that win," said Ralph Hasenhuttl.

"I don't really look at the stats, it doesn't have anything to do with the game tomorrow. We have a new team, they have a new team and a new manager. We are concentrating on a very tough game against a strong side with good players.

"They played well yesterday and should have been able to win this game with the chances they had. But we know it is tough to win there, I don't need to look at the stars to know that.

"But we will go there with the positive experiences we have made so far and try to do the best."

  3. No new injuries for Saintspublished at 14:43 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2020

Arsenal v Southampton (Wed, 18:00 GMT)

    Southampton

Ralph Hasenhuttl says he has no fresh injury concerns for Wednesday's trip to Arsenal.

The Saints moved up to fourth in the table with victory against Sheffield United on Sunday.

"So far, unsurprisingly, everyone tells me that they are fit and wants to play again," he said.

"This is normal when a team is successful that nobody thinks he is tired.

"We must have a look tomorrow, but so far no injuries. A few tight muscles, but to be honest I cannot tell today how they will feel tomorrow.

"We have a light session tomorrow. Until Wednesday we will know more and haven't decided yet what options we have."

Man City v West Brom (Tues, 20:00 GMT)

    Manchester City

With European competition now put to bed until February, Pep Guardiola agrees that we are now entering a different stage of the season, with domestic matters now the sole focus.

"In the Premier League so far, the European teams played in different competitions, now everyone plays the same amount [of games]," he said.

"We are lucky to play in Europe. Now is the moment to play the game and try to beat them. No more complications."

  6. Guardiola respect for CL opponents Monchengladbachpublished at 14:25 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2020

Man City v West Brom (Tues, 20:00 GMT)

    Manchester City

The Champions League has drawn Manchester City together with Borussia Monchengladbach, who are in the last 16 for the first time since 1978.

City may have avoided some of the bigger European sides, but Pep Guardiola won't be complacent.

"I learnt that in Germany how big and important and historic they are,"he said.

"It’s a club that I respect a lot, the beauty of playing football, they went through a tough group, and made an incredible couple of games against Shakhtar Donetsk after they’d beaten Real Madrid.

"We have to arrive in best condition possible. I’ve seen the highlights, not much of them properly, we’ll start to work on it but we know for the last 16 it’s about arriving in the best condition possible to go through."

"It’s sad news, our deep condolences to his family," he said.

"He was incredibly loved, when he was in Uefa meetings, when I was a player in Barcelona, Europa league, against Liverpool. Sad news for the whole of world football and all the best for his family."

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has confirmed striker Sergio Aguero has returned to training after a bout of gastoenteritis,

Aguero had only just come back from a knee injury when he was sidelined for the Manchester derby on Saturday.

Guardiola has still to decide whether the Argentine will be in his squad for tomorrow's game against West Brom.

"Today Sergio Aguero was training," he said. "The last two or three days before that he didn’t."

    Eric Garcia is definitely out.

  11. 'It's a long race to win this league' - Lampardpublished at 14:01 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2020

    Wolves v Chelsea (18:00 GMT)

    Chelsea

Chelsea were not the only team to slip up this weekend, with Liverpool and Tottenham also dropping points.

With the busy Christmas schedule now upon us, Frank Lampard says it is essential his side stays in touch with the leaders.

"I kept saying when people were touting us for the league, particularly after the Leeds game, that it's a long race to win the league," he said.

"I did it as a player, I understand lots of elements of it. There are difficult moments and one of those is losing a game and bouncing back quickly, which is what we want to do. And to sustain performances and results over a busy time, particularly like Christmas. So it's up to us to try and do that."

  12. Fans do make a difference - Lampardpublished at 13:50 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2020

Wolves v Chelsea (Tue, 18:00 GMT)

    Chelsea

There are unconfirmed reports London is about to be placed into Tier 3 of the government's coronavirus restrictions, which would means Premier League games in the capital would again have to be played behind closed doors.

Frank Lampard, whose Chelsea side, beat Leeds in front of 2,000 fans at Stamford Bridge last week, believes it will be difficult to adjust back to having no supporters present.

"If it comes in I think it will be [difficult to re-adjust]," he said.

"I'm slightly disappointed because even though we've had fans in already I did feel it should be a level playing field for fans. If some clubs can have fans and some can't, we've seen on the pitch already the backing they can give you. It should be level.

"I'm not telling the government what to do but we can control 2,000 fans in a stadium. So it's unfortunate to say the least.

"We are making it up as we go along, that's not to sound critical, it's just that we have not been in this situation before.

"So can you control the situation? I think clubs have shown they can. So I'd like to think something can be done to make it exempt to where we can those 2,000 fans in."

  13. 'The Premier League is unforgiving'published at 13:40 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2020

Wolves v Chelsea (Tue, 18:00 GMT)

    Chelsea

Frank Lampard knows his side need to respond after their 17-game unbeaten run was brought to an end by Everton at the weekend.

"The Premier League is unforgiving, we saw that over the weekend and pretty much every matchday," he said.

"We weren't at our top level Saturday and got beaten, that's it.

"We've been on a really long unbeaten run, winning games, and we dropped it for a game. It's absolutely on us to pick it up again straight away.

"We've been playing well, but I know the next game is always the most important one. This is the Premier League, you don't go to teams like Everton and expect anything. We didn't quite perform and we lost the game."

  14. Atletico the toughest possible draw - Lampardpublished at 13:35 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2020

Chelsea v Wolves (Tue, 18:00 GMT)

    Chelsea

Frank Lampard has also reacted to the Champions League draw, which pits Chelsea against Spanish giants Atletico Madrid.

"I think Most people will say toughest one we could have had, going on current form, European experience, where they are in the La Liga," he said.

"But all draws are difficult in the Champions League. We have to have belief in ourselves. And when the game comes round you have to beat teams like that to win the Champions League. It is what it is.

"They are top of La Liga. They knocked Liverpool out last year, who are obviously a great team. They are certainly one of the toughest we could have drawn on paper. But we have to turn up and do our job and be confident we can beat them."

Jamie Hubbard: Chelsea have won their group 3/5 times since 14/15. We've drawn PSG (x2), Barca, Bayern and now Atleti in the round of 16... Top of La Liga and with a fearsome home record, Atleti was the hardest route! So no, to answer your question, not happy with that draw!
