  1. Coming uppublished at 10:04 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2020

It has already been a busy morning, but there is loads more to come!

In less than an hour we will have the Champions League knockout stage draw. Then from midday it is the turn of the Europa League.

There are also six Premier League news conferences taking place today ahead of midweek matches. They include Frank Lampard and Pep Guardiola from around 1330 GMT.

  2. Arsenal missing 'leaders'published at 09:57 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2020

    Arsenal 0-1 Burnley

Match of the Day 2 pundits Alex Scott and Jermaine Jenas say Arsenal's senior players are not stepping up for Mikel Arteta, and they are really missing the presence of David Luiz.

Hard to disagree but then there aren't that many knocking around these days.

  3. Blunt Blades in trouble at the bottompublished at 09:48 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2020

    Southampton 3-0 Sheffield United

The season is only 12 games old, but Sheffield United's situation is looking increasingly dire. They still have just one point and are now eight points from safety.

No team in the Premier League era has had so few points at this stage of the season and gone on to avoid relegation. The Blades are also only the fourth side in the top four tiers of English football to have no more than one point from their opening 12 league games of a season.

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder is trying to look at the positives, but says his side's defending let them down on the south coast.

"They were the better side today," said Wilder. "You can't afford to make that mistake for the first goal and when an opportunity comes you have to take it, and we didn't.

"Both those things in the first half set it up for a really difficult afternoon for us.

"I get on with my job. I get up in the morning, have a shower, come in bright and do my work to the best of my ability. And that's what we all do."

  4. Hasenhuttl emotional at fans returnpublished at 09:40 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2020

    Southampton 3-0 Sheffield United

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl said he was moved by the scenes at the final whistle, when he and the players celebrated with the supporters, who were back in St Mary's for the first time in nine months.

"It was a job very well done. It was not as easy as it looked, especially against a team that had nothing to lose and sits very deep," he said.

"It couldn't be better to have the fans back today, to be honest. It was very emotional, you can celebrate with them when for months we haven't seen them.

"You could feel how much they enjoyed it, and watching us play good football. Hopefully we'll come through this very tough time and more and more people should come to see us play."

  5. Southampton on the risepublished at 09:31 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2020

    Southampton 3-0 Sheffield United

The Saints are also on the march, they moved into the Premier League's top four by sweeping aside bottom club Sheffield United at St Mary's.

Che Adams pounced in the box to poke in the opener, Stuart Armstrong scored a deflected second, and Nathan Redmond came off the bench to add a delightful third.

The Saints have earned 23 points in this season's Premier League - only in 2014-15 have they had more after their opening 12 matches of a campaign in the competition.

  6. Score painful for us - Potterpublished at 09:23 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2020

    Leicester 3-0 Brighton

Brighton's two wins from 12 this term represents their joint-fewest at this stage in the club's top-flight history, and defeat sees the Seagulls pulled into trouble following positive results for Burnley and Fulham.

"We have no complaints with the result," said boss Graham Potter. "There were some big moments for us before they scored and we were playing quite well but the goal affected us.

"Pretty quickly you go from being fine to suffering. The response in the second half was very good but overall it wasn't good enough to get the three points. The score is painful for us - there's not many times that's happened to us this season. We have to recover and go again."

It is the start of a big week for Brighton, who face matches against fellow strugglers Fulham and Sheffield United.

  7. Maddison has immense quality - Rodgerspublished at 09:16 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2020

    Leicester 3-0 Brighton

Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers to BBC Sport on James Maddison: "He has such quality. What makes it even better is he hardly trained at all this week. He had an issue with his knee so we took him out of our midweek game. You see his immense quality - his first goal and then to cut in [for his second]. He's a fantastic player.

"The second half was about controlling the space and playing a bit more on the counter. We controlled the game well and showed our maturity. Our focus was very good and it's a professional job."

  8. Foxes up to third after Brighton winpublished at 09:04 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2020

    Leicester 3-0 Brighton

To the King Power next, where a relentless first-half from Leicester helped secure a 3-0 victory against Brighton to lift the Foxes up to third in the table.

James Maddison struck twice before half-time, his second a sublime, curled finish into the top corner after he had slotted in from Jamie Vardy's blocked shot.

Vardy, making a record-equalling 222nd Premier League appearance for the Foxes, scored his side's second from James Justin's low cross.

With the points secured before the interval, Brendan Rodgers' side comfortably saw out a much quieter second period to move one point behind Tottenham and Liverpool, after both were held to draws on Sunday.

  9. Good to have supporters back - Hodgsonpublished at 08:54 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2020

    Crystal Palace 1-1 Tottenham

Hodgson also praised the Crystal Palace supporters, who were back at Selhurst Park for the first time since March.

"The supporters were great. I told the players it's not what they can give us, it's what we can give them," he added.

"They got behind us and appreciated it and luckily we welcomed them back on a good day."

  10. Guaita earns Hodgson praisepublished at 08:45 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2020

    Crystal Palace 1-1 Tottenham

Tottenham could have won the game in the final seconds but Vicente Guaita pulled off one of the saves of the season to palm away Eric Dier's free-kick.

It was one of a number of fine stops by the Palace goalkeeper, who made amends for misjudging Harry Kane's shot for the opening goal.

"He made two great saves at the end, one from close range and of course Eric Dier's free-kick," said boss Roy Hodgson.

"He had a very good game. Had he not made the mistake I'm not sure he would have felt as good after making the late saves."

  11. Lloris best goalkeeper in Premier League - Mourinhopublished at 08:34 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2020

    Crystal Palace 1-1 Tottenham

Jose Mourinho refused to blame goalkeeper Hugo Lloris after the Frenchman failed to hold Eberechi Eze's free-kick that led to Crystal Palace's equaliser.

"My goalkeeper is the best goalkeeper in the Premier League so I would never be critical of the best goalkeeper in the Premier League, period," said Mourinho.

"If I have to blame anybody, I have to blame ourselves, the team. The ones that win, the ones that draw and the ones that lose.

"At half-time, I told the players exactly the opposite that we did in the second half, but if they didn't, it was because they couldn't do it.

"It was because they were not able to do it. I give credit to Palace for that."

  12. Spurs stay top after Palace drawpublished at 08:27 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2020

    Crystal Palace 1-1 Tottenham

Liverpool's failure to win means Tottenham stay top after they drew with Crystal Palace earlier on Sunday.

Harry Kane put Spurs on course for a sixth win in seven league games with a shot from 30 yards which Vicente Guaita should have saved.

But Palace deservedly equalised when Jeffrey Schlupp bundled home after Hugo Lloris could not hold Eberechi Eze's free-kick.

  13. We showed our quality - Parkerpublished at 08:18 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2020

    Fulham 1-1 Liverpool

Having only earned four points from their opening nine league games this season, Fulham have now picked up four from their last three, against Leicester, Man City and Liverpool.

Cottagers boss Scott Parker was pleased with the point, but frustrated that it was not all three.

"I feel a bit disappointed. The players do as well. It shows how far we've come," he told BBC Sport.

"There were two different halves. The first half, we were every bit of what we needed - commitment, energy, desire, passion. We showed a real quality and caused Liverpool problems.

"The second half panned out like everyone expected. Overall I'm very pleased.

"We came out of the blocks flying today. We showed our quality. We can play. I thought we did that very well in the first half."

  14. Jota out for six weekspublished at 08:10 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2020

    Fulham 1-1 Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp revealed before kick-off that summer signing Diogo Jota will be out for at least six weeks because of a knee injury.

The Portuguese 24-year-old was injured playing against Midtjylland in the Champions League on Wednesday.

His absence adds to a Liverpool injury list that includes defenders Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Konstantinos Tsimikas, and midfielders James Milner, Thiago Alcantara and Xherdan Shaqiri.

"It's worse than we first thought, but better than we then thought," Reds manager Jurgen Klopp told Sky Sports.

"There was the potential for surgery, but there's no surgery needed. He will be out for a while. We don't know exactly."

  15. First 30 minutes we were just not good - Klopppublished at 07:57 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2020

    Fulham 1-1 Liverpool

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was not happy with how his side started the game, but was pleased with their reaction in the second half.

"In the first 30 minutes we were just not good," he said. "We could have lost the game in that period. After half an hour it was already better. The second half was good. We could have had more [goals].

"We are dealing with human beings and things like this happen.

"Yesterday all the teams that played in the Champions League had a tough one. It's crazy. Maybe this was the weekend we felt it a little bit.

"It doesn't help with the number of games that we have to play the same players. There was a push definitely - 100%.

"We move on. Tottenham is the next challenge."

  16. Reds miss chance to go toppublished at 07:45 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2020

    Fulham 1-1 Liverpool

Now to an entertaining game at Craven Cottage, where Liverpool missed out on the chance to go top of the Premier League and were somewhat fortunate to come away with a draw against Fulham.

Mohamed Salah earned them their point with a penalty after Aboubakar Kamara leapt in the wall and blocked a Georginio Wijnaldum free-kick with his arm.

Bobby Decordova-Reid had given Fulham the lead during a first half that the home side dominated and would have scored more in, but for returning Reds goalkeeper Alisson, who made a number of key saves.

The visitors also survived an early shout for a penalty, that required referee Andre Marriner to come to the touchline VAR monitor to assess Fabinho's challenge on Cavaleiro, which saw him make contact with both man and ball.

  17. Burnley finally building after poor start - Dychepublished at 07:39 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2020

    Arsenal 0-1 Burnley

It's not all about Arsenal of course, what a result that is for Burnley.

After a poor start to the season the Clarets have now collected eight points from their last five matches, with this latest win lifting them out of the relegation zone.

It is little wonder that Sean Dyche is happy with life.

He told BBC Sport: "It is tough coming here. There is a lot of noise around them but they still have some very good players.

"Arsenal just got their feel in the game until the sending off, they responded well to that and had a couple of chances but then we calmed the game down and got ourselves the winner.

"In the modern game, it is so soft now the modern game, it has to be given. I am amazed the second was not a sending off, you can't just push someone in the face.

"I still felt we could have managed the game better towards the end but we are building out of a tough start so I am not going to question them on that too much.

"As the group has got stronger physically with players coming back from injury and getting fully fit we are beginning to get to the right levels."

  18. Xhaka dismissal unacceptable - Artetapublished at 07:28 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2020

    Arsenal 0-1 Burnley

Asked if Granit Xhaka's dismissal was unacceptable, Mikel Arteta told BBC Sport: "Yes. In my opinion it is too much willingness to do well, to compete to do everything.

"We took it to the wrong side of it, when you step over the line you will get punished."

Asked where the performance against Burnley leaves his side, the Spaniard replied: "In a worse position.

"When you have this type of performance you have to win matches, you have to win as simple as that. It puts us in a difficult position and we have to try again on Wednesday.

"I am clear in my mind what needs to improve. I don't know how to put the ball into the net."

  19. Arsenal make worst start since 1974published at 07:20 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2020

    Arsenal 0-1 Burnley

If you are an Arsenal supporter, sorry to do this to you on a Monday morning, but the statistics make for grim reading:

    • Defeat means Arsenal have now lost four straight league games at home for the first time in 61 years.
    • The Gunners have gone 12 hours and 32 top-flight minutes without finding the net from open play.
    • With four wins and a draw after 12 games, this is their worst start to a top-flight season since 1974-75, when they had won two and drawn three.
    • Their tally of 10 goals after 12 Premier League games is their lowest at this stage of a top-flight season since 1981-82, when they had eight.
    • Arsenal have received six Premier League red cards since Mikel Arteta took charge last December, double that of any other side in the same timeframe.

  20. Gunners booed off as Burnley claim winpublished at 07:14 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2020

    Arsenal 0-1 Burnley

Let's start at the Emirates, where Arsenal's poor home form continued with a 1-0 defeat against Burnley.

The Gunners were jeered off by the 2,000 Arsenal fans present in the stadium after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's own goal gave the Clarets all three points.

Burnley's winner came after Granit Xhaka was dismissed on 58 minutes for grabbing the throat of Clarets midfielder Ashley Westwood - the Swiss midfielder given a red card after referee Graham Scott reviewed the incident on the pitch-side monitor.

Defeat meant Mikel Arteta's side have now lost four straight league games at home for the first time in 61 years.
