  4. Postpublished at 21:00 Greenwich Mean Time 24 March 2021

    Serbia 1-1 Republic of Ireland

Ireland are slightly fortunate not to concede a penalty - or maybe a free-kick just outside the box. Seamus Coleman slips and brings down Dusan Vlahovic. He didn't mean it... but he did it nonetheless.

  5. Postpublished at 21:00 Greenwich Mean Time 24 March 2021

    Portugal 1-0 Azerbaijan

Cristiano Ronaldo is just seven goals away from Ali Daei's all-time international record of 109 and you'd think tonight would represent a good chance for him to close in on that figure but it hasn't quite happened for him yet. He's just smashed a free-kick right on the edge of the area into an opponent's face as he tried to clear the wall.

  6. Postpublished at 20:58 Greenwich Mean Time 24 March 2021

    Serbia 1-1 Republic of Ireland

Alan Browne runs onto a long ball down the left and he does well to even keep the ball in play - but his volleyed cross can't find Callum Robinson.

  7. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 20:56 Greenwich Mean Time 24 March 2021

    Serbia 1-1 Republic of Ireland

Ireland want a penalty as Stefan Mitrovic slides in on Aaron Connolly. The referee says the defender won the ball. Again, no VAR.

  8. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 20:56 Greenwich Mean Time 24 March 2021

    Serbia 1-1 Republic of Ireland

Serbia have a goal disallowed for a clear offside. Dusan Tadic plays Dusan Vlahovic in and he slots home - but play had basically stopped, it was so far off. No VAR in these games.

  9. Postpublished at 20:55 Greenwich Mean Time 24 March 2021

    Serbia 1-1 Republic of Ireland

Callum Robinson, who is definitely the brightest Ireland attacker, just fails to find a team-mate with a through ball.

  10. Postpublished at 20:54 Greenwich Mean Time 24 March 2021

    Serbia 1-1 Republic of Ireland

Almost a chance for Ireland. Callum Robinson is on the ball quickly and crosses to Aaron Connolly, but a Serbian defender denies him the chance to shoot.

Some Body: #Ireland folded back into last-ditch defensive mode after scoring - with 70 mins still to play!! I predict 3-1 Serbia. But it doesn't have to be.

  12. Postpublished at 20:50 Greenwich Mean Time 24 March 2021

    Serbia 1-1 Republic of Ireland

A sloppy start to the second half for Ireland. There's a bit of panic and then Sasa Lukic shoots just over for Serbia.

  13. KICK-OFFpublished at 20:49 Greenwich Mean Time 24 March 2021

    Serbia 1-1 Republic of Ireland

The second half begins. Can Ireland build on a promising opening 30 minutes?

Serbia bring on Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Filip Kostic for Filip Mladenovic.

  14. Postpublished at 20:43 Greenwich Mean Time 24 March 2021

    Serbia 1-1 Republic of Ireland

For all Ireland's first-half promise, they've only actually had one shot. Serbia have had eight.

Tomas Soucek has a second and the Czech Republic lead Estonia 4-1 in the countries I took my toddler to on holiday before the pandemic derby.

  16. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:38 Greenwich Mean Time 24 March 2021

    France 1-0 Ukraine

A good first half for Didier Deschamps' side. France looking very comfortable so far.

  18. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:35 Greenwich Mean Time 24 March 2021

    Portugal 1-0 Azerbaijan

Half time and Portugal have the lead through an own goal. It has been almost one-way traffic, with Cristiano Ronaldo coming closest to adding to the lead when his overhead kick flew just over.

  19. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:33 Greenwich Mean Time 24 March 2021

    Serbia 1-1 Republic of Ireland

It's half-time in Belgrade. A good 40 minutes, followed by five bad ones, for the Republic of Ireland.
