  1. Post update

England got the job done in somewhat average fashion, and so did I. My work here is done. You'll be able to read more reaction on the BBC Sport site during the evening.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday.

  2. 'Pleased by areas to work on'

    Albania 0-2 England

England manager Gareth Southgate talking to ITV: "What pleased me, we adapted well to the difficult pitch, controlled the game well. We changed the shape of the midfield well and looked comfortable after that.

"The end of the game we should have killed the game off and I didn't like the way we managed the game in the last 15 minutes. Charging forward, conceding a throw when we didn't need to.

"Pleased with the win but areas we need to improve on."

  3. 'Two sitters allows six other players to attack'

    FT: Albania 0-2 England

    Karen Carney

Former England and Chelsea winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

If you've got Harry Maguire, John Stones, Declan Rice and Kalvin Phillips sat in that box there is a reason for that - look at the assist for the first goal, it was Luke Shaw. It's because those four allow the other six to go and attack and protect the centre of the pitch.

As England fans we can sit there and say 'oh no double pivots again they're not getting forward' but worst case scenario they sit there but even then you can allow Shaw to go on, you can allow Kyle Walker to go on. Phil Foden, Mason Mount, Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling can then all go out and express themselves because as an attacking player I know I have a solid four behind me.

We need to get away from thinking that it's a really bad scenario with two sitters, it's not it's because it allows six others to go on and attack.

  4. 'So happy to be back'

    FT: Albania 0-2 England

    Luke Shaw

England full-back Luke Shaw, speaking to ITV Sport: "Very happy to win on my first game back. Gareth said it before we want clean sheets and we got another. The pitch at times was difficult but we got the three points. Job done.

"Maybe a crucial time for me as I gave a couple of sloppy balls away. When you play with Kane you know he will be in that area for you to hit.

"We controlled the tempo well at times. There only chances came from mistakes to us. The pitch didn't help but no excuses. We know we made a couple of mistakes. Gareth said after we needed to control it better. Better teams might punish us.

"The last two years I have been watching the games and regretting not having taken my chance. I am so happy to be back. I would love to be in the Euros squad. There is high competition. I will keep pushing myself."

  5. Tricky night for Northern Ireland

    FT: Northern Ireland 1-2 USA

It's all over at Windsor Park - that's ten games without a win for Northern Ireland under Ian Barraclough.

A superb goal from Niall McGinn was just a bit too late for NI to insight the comeback after goals from Gia Reyna and Christian Pulisic's penalty earlier on. Remember it was just a friendly though, Northern Ireland go on to face Bulgaria in their World Cup qualifier on Wednesday.

  6. 'Great to get three points'

    FT: Albania 0-2 England

    Harry Kane

England captain Harry Kane talking to ITV Sport: "I thought it was a really good performance, Maybe a bit slow at the start but we changed our formation and I think that helped.

"Sometimes you go through spells when things don't go your way, that is part of being a striker. You just have to stay focused and it was great to get three points.

"We need to keep working hard but we are in a good place. Poland will be the toughest game in the group but we are ready for that. If we can win that, that puts us in a great position."

  7. 'Very professional'

    FT: Albania 0-2 England

    Karen Carney

Former England and Chelsea winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

Professional performance - its one of those games where you have to wear the opposition down because they are defensively organised and making it difficult at times. Good standards, sometimes they needed to switch onto the counter but 2-0, clean sheet and very professional.

  8. 'They did a job'

    FT: Albania 0-2 England

    Rob Green

Former England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

It was a professional job. Gareth Southgate will be pleased.

England dominated with the ball - not as spectacular as we hoped, but they did a job.

Today there were flashes of brilliance and flashes of football.

  9. Olmo scores stoppage-time winner for Spain

    FT: Georgia 1-2 Spain

    St Olmo's on fire!

Leipzig winger Dani Olmo scores in the second minute of stoppage time to give Spain their first victory in Group B.

Luis Enrique's side were a goal down at half-time but hit back through Manchester City's Ferran Torres before Jordi Alba provided his second assist for the last-gasp effort from Olmo.

Paul Carney: What colour shirts will England wear on Wednesday?

Matthew Hughes: Whilst new blood is promising, we have only played San Marino and Albania, the real test is good teams. Poland will be interesting to see how far we have progressed.

  12. Post update

    Albania 0-2 England

England can now turn their attention to Poland's visit to Wembley on Wednesday. They will pose a much tougher test than Southgate's side have faced so far in this qualifying campaign.

  13. Denmark score eight in rout

    FT: Denmark 8-0 Moldova

Did Union Berlin forward Marcus Ingvartsen wake up this morning thinking he would score Denmark's eighth goal against Moldova?

He did just that, moments before the final whistle. A great win for Kasper Hjulmand's men.

Scotland face the Danes in Group F in the autumn.

    .
  14. FULL-TIME

    Albania 0-2 England

Raheem Sterling has the game's final chance, failing to get around the keeper.

The three points are in the bag. Doesn't natter how England got them.

Two wins out of two in 2022 World Cup qualifying.

  15. Post update

    Albania 0-2 England

Four minutes added to the game. It could 444 minutes and Albania wouldn't score.

  16. Post update

    Albania 0-2 England

Kane sees an angled shot blocked behind for a corner. It is swung towards Maguire, who fouls his man attempting to reach it.

  17. YELLOW CARD

    Albania 0-2 England

Klaus Gjasula gets a yellow for a late, foot-up challenge on Mount. He has the record for yellow cards in the Bundesliga and now has another international booking to his name.

  18. SUBSTITUTION

    Albania 0-2 England

Ylber Ramadani is on for the home side with about 90 seconds of normal time left. It is going to have to be a hell of cameo to rescue something for his side now.

  19. Seven-up for Denmark

    Denmark 7-0 Moldova

We probably won't see 10, but we have seven.

The Danes improve their goal difference in Scotland's Group F no end - Hoffenheim's Robert Skov is the latest to find the back of the net.

  20. Post update

    Albania 0-2 England

Into the last five minutes. England cruising home.
