Brendan Rodgers, not long after starting his BBC interview by whistling and waving to ex-Leicester City midfielder Andy King in the stands, sums up exactly what was so special about the winning goal.

"I said to the guys it is like an old school FA Cup-winning goal," he said.

Exactly right, like Ronnie Radford's rocket it is the sort of goal that will be referred to when the FA Cup is being talked about in 20-30 years' time.

Craig Harper: So pleased for LCFC. A fantastic club with brilliant ownership. This is a win for running a football club the right way. How Gary Lineker is keeping it together on screen is beyond me.

Mrs L: COME ON YOU FOXES! A real club, with owners who connect with their fans. Not to mention that captain Kasper Schmeichel chose to share the trophy lifting with Wes Morgan, the 2016 captain. A class act.

I've just seen the chairman, Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha joining in the celebrations, Kasper Schmeichel dragged him down. The players are standing around and applauding him. He bows to the Leicester plays.

He was handed the FA Cup and the players gathered all around and applauded him. That is a great moment in the recent history of Leicester City.

The thing with the VAR call is we've seen it all season. It's so tight and it's very tough to take.

I'd be devastated if I lost the cup final on a decision this close, but we're used to it.

  8. 'Chelsea have three finals to come'published at 19:31 British Summer Time 15 May 2021

    Leicester win the FA Cup

    Ashley Cole
Former Chelsea and Arsenal defender on BBC One

Chelsea have three cup finals now basically, if they want to finish in the top four and win the Champions League.

They have got to pick themselves up and go again. They can't feel sorry for themselves.

Is it the same team as Frank Lampard's? When Frank was here they controlled and dominated games but couldn't finish it off. The last couple of weeks it has felt the same.

    Dion Dublin
Former Man Utd and Aston Villa striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

All my family live in Leicester so they have suffered as well with the situation around the pandemic. They have suffered as a city.

But I have no doubt that if they were given 50,000 tickets, they'd have sold them. It is that kind of club.

  11. 'I can't even begin to describe it'published at 19:27 British Summer Time 15 May 2021

    Leicester win the FA Cup

    Leicester City

Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel speaking to BBC Sport: "So happy I can't begin to describe it. What a day. Indescribable, it's what dreams are made of, I've dreamt about this since I was child, we have talked about wanting to win trophies. The performance today, the grit and determination, I'm so proud of everybody, everybody contributed to get to the final everyone has played and been sensational. Everyone behind the scenes, all the team behind the team, medical staff and everyone. That's why when you work together and do things properly and you have an internal belief that's what we can achieve."

Was it for the owners? "Exactly that, we have a picture on the inside of our shirts so he's always with us. This is what we've dreamt of and talked about for so long."

On the goal: "Youri Tielemans, wow what a finish. I didn't dare to celebrate because of VAR but wow.

"Today is an amazing day, a great day we will enjoy it thoroughly, but we are training tomorrow we play them on Tuesday again in another massive game. Today we enjoy it but we can't for too long because they are a top class side and they will want revenge."

This is what it's about. This is what you dream about.

For a club like Leicester, with everything they've been through, it's fitting that they are able to celebrate this moment with their fans.

    I'm delighted for them.

I'm absolutely delighted for the owners. We've spoken about owners at football clubs so much recently.

This is how to run a football club and play an active part in bringing what the fans need and want. They have absolutely done that.

    Leicester win the FA Cup

    Dion Dublin
Former Man Utd and Aston Villa striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

It's a little bit of patience that Brendan Rodgers has shown with his younger players and the senior players got on board with what he wanted.

Jonny Evans, what a very good player he has been, Vardy and Ihenacho have been outstanding and Tielemans and Ndidi, have been part of that defensive midfield that works.

Leicester have got it right and Brendan Rodgers has got it right. I don't think this is a one-off, I think they will be in this situation quite a few times.

  18. 'Amazing performance'published at 19:19 British Summer Time 15 May 2021

Youri Tielemans was man of the match. It was an amazing performance and goal and Kasper Schmeichel's save, he could not have seen it until it was about three yards away and he somehow clawed it out.

The players have done their football club proud today. Every single one ran their socks off.

They got their tactics spot on, I know Kasper Schmeichel made two world class saves but for large periods they looked comfortable.
