  1. Watch the only goal so farpublished at 38 mins

    Southampton 1-0 Shrewsbury

This is the goal which is the difference so far, with Dan N'Lundulu getting it on his first Saints start.

  2. Postpublished at 37 mins

    Southampton 1-0 Shrewsbury

A lucky let-off for the Saints as the Shrews' Harry Chapman is free on the right wing and his cross takes a massive deflection off of defender Jack Stephens.

The ball loops up and could go anywhere, with Fraser Forster frantically back-peddling and luckily for the Saints the ball drops just wide for a corner, which comes to nothing.

  3. Postpublished at 34 mins

    Southampton 1-0 Shrewsbury

Forster makes a fine save to deny Shaun Whalley, who is getting the best Shrewsbury chances. The flag's up so it wouldn't have counted, but Forster didn't though that and did well to palm it away.

  4. 'Shrewsbury have done well so far'published at 20:33 Greenwich Mean Time 19 January 2021

    Southampton 1-0 Shrewsbury

    Glenn Murray
Brighton striker on BBC Radio 5 live

Apart from not dealing with a long ball and conceding from that, which I'm sure Shrewsbury will be really disappointed with, I think they have done really well, they've had three or four shots at Fraser Forster.

  5. Postpublished at 31 mins

    Southampton 1-0 Shrewsbury

A chance for a second Southampton goal and it falls to Caleb Watts but he can't get it on target, it's a bad connection and balloons over the bar.

At the other end, Shaun Whalley, on the left corner of the penalty area, cuts on to his right foot and looks to curl it into the top corner, but gets too much on it and it's over.

  6. Postpublished at 28 mins

    Southampton 1-0 Shrewsbury

That's a goal for Dan N'Lundulu on his first start for the Saints. He's a 21-year-old forward, who was born in France but has represented England at Under-16 level.

A day in his career he will never forget.

  7. CLOSE!published at 20:22 Greenwich Mean Time 19 January 2021

    Southampton 1-0 Shrewsbury

James Ward-Prowse with a free-kick from just outside the penalty area. We all know how dangerous he can be from this position and he whips it over the wall, but also just over the bar.

  8. Goal givenpublished at 20:18 Greenwich Mean Time 19 January 2021

    Southampton 1-0 Shrewsbury

The referee thought there might be a handball when Caleb Watts brought the ball down, but it's not given and the Saints lead. N'Lundulu's goal stand. Saints lead.

  9. goal

GOAL - Southampton 1-0 Shrewsburypublished at 16 mins

    Dan N'Lundulu

It has taken the Premier League side 16 minutes to go ahead.

A long ball forward is brought down by Southampton's Caleb Watts, Shrewsbury do a poor job of clearing the ball and it falls to Dan N'Lundulu and he strikes low and hard from a tight angle, it goes through the legs of Scott Golbourne and into the bottom corner.

    But wait, VAR check.

In these conditions you want to get any shot on target to test the keeper. That's what the Shrews' Harry Chapman does as he tries his luck from 30 yards and the ball zips up off the greasy surface, but Fraser Forster watches it all the way and isn't deceived by the ball bouncing up just in front of him.

  11. Postpublished at 12 mins

    Southampton 0-0 Shrewsbury

It's still raining heavily and it's windy too. Tough, tough conditions.

The Saints have been the better side so far though, dominating possession with the League One side yet to test Fraser Forster.
