Brilliant opener from Greg Cunningham, then a penalty for Preston North End turned down, then there is a penalty.

Second goal a first for Liam Lindsay, from a near post corner. The Blackburn Rovers penalty is fortunate, with the referee unsure whether to give it but Adam Armstrong converted it.

North End will feel they haven’t had the rub of the green from the officials. All to play for.

Wayne Ellis: What a goal that was from Preston! Great cross field ball to start it and an inch perfect finish.

It's a while ago now, but Greg Cunningham's opener for Preston was a reat!

    Blackburn 1-2 Preston

All over for the first half at Ewood Park and what a game this has turned into!

Blackburn are not out of this one folks, but Preston have been rather impressive and are worthy of their lead.

  6. GREAT SAVE!published at 45 mins

    Blackburn 1-2 Preston

    My word what a save!

Preston keeper Daniel Iversen pulls off a tremendous stop low at his right to deny Adam Armstrong's close-range strike.

    That is sensational.

    Adam Armstrong (pen)

Adam Armstrong makes no mistake from the spot and, on the cusp of half-time, Blackburn are back in this game.

Preston might feel hard done by having seen a replay of the penalty as there's not much in it at all.

  8. PENALTY TO BLACKBURNpublished at 45 mins

    Blackburn 0-2 Preston

Wow, a pathway back into this game immediately follows for Blackburn.

Sam Gallagher goes down as Andrew Hughes goes in for the challenge.

There's not a lot in it and it would appear the assistant referee's intervention is what's given it.

  9. goal

    Liam Lindsay

That could be a huge goal and Preston double their lead just before the break.

A corner sails into the Blackburn box and Liam Lindsay, at the near post, gets the slightest of touches onto it with his head and it bounces into the net.

    Blackburn 0-1 Preston

Ched Evans is down requiring treatment now having come off worse in a challenge for the ball with Blackburn's Darragh Lenihan.

There's a break in play as he's brought to the touchline before the game continues.

  11. Postpublished at 41 mins

    Blackburn 0-1 Preston

Preston have done well to keep Blackburn under pressure every time they have the ball.

Case in point, Ched Evans forces Blackburn keeper Thomas Kaminski to come well out of his box before clearing the ball away.

    Blackburn 0-1 Preston

Blimey, so, so close to a Blackburn leveller!

Bradley Dack does well to turn and feed Adam Armstrong with a lovely through ball in midfield and the Rovers striker goes on to drag a low shot just wide of the mark.

  13. Postpublished at 35 mins

    Blackburn 0-1 Preston

This is turning into a scrappy game, now. Ched Evans is fouled outside the Blackburn box and the game seems to have turned on its head since that Preston goal.

The visitors are in the ascendency right now, but can Blackburn hit back?

    Blackburn 0-1 Preston

The tempo of this game has slowed down somewhat as we approach the half hour mark.

With how cold it is, it's a wonder there's not a tea break to warm up just like we have drinks breaks now in summer..

  15. Postpublished at 26 mins

    Blackburn 0-1 Preston

Buoyed by Greg Cunningham's goal - against his former side and his first since his return to Preston, no less - the visitors see claims for a penalty waved away soon after the goal.

Ched Evans goes down under pressure from Sam Gallagher but referee David Webb says nothing doing and waves play on.

Well that's certainly perked up what had been a drab opening 20 minutes!

What have Blackburn got in response having dominated possession up until that Preston goal?

    Greg Cunningham

Blimey, what a goal this is.

It all comes from a Preston goal kick, which has the Blackburn defence fooled as Alan Browne is allowed the time and space to deliver a pinpoint ball to Greg Cunningham.

From an acute angle he then buries his shot past Rovers keeper Thomas Kaminski.

    Blackburn 0-0 Preston

In a rare Blackburn mishap, Jarrad Branthwaite is easily dispossessed by Ched Evans as Preston race upfield.

The visitors attempt to work the ball into the box as they take their chance against the run of play but Blackburn regain the ball soon after.

Just over a quarter of an hour gone and not much in the way of chances for either side.

  19. Postpublished at 14 mins

    Blackburn 0-0 Preston

Liam Lindsay is penalised for handball as Preston concede yet another free-kick deep in their half.

Replays show he dived to chest the ball away and the visitors are granted a reprieve as they clear it as soon as Blackburn work it into the box.

In the aftermath, however, Andrew Hughes is down in some discomfort.

  20. Postpublished at 9 mins

    Blackburn 0-0 Preston

Bradley Dack is caught offside as Blackburn work the ball into the Preston box.

It's fair to say it's been all Blackburn so far as the visitors work their way into this derby.
