Andy King: With Birmingham second bottom and their tenants Coventry skirting above the danger zone, has there ever before been two teams relegated together that have the same home ground? Surely a first if it happens?

    Great question Andy. Anyone?

First Coventry corner sadly doesn't find its intended target in the penalty area and Brentford clear their lines.

Thomas Frank's side not quite able to get into a rhythm as yet.

Aside from kit colour choices, Coventry have started this match well with some intensity.

Mark Robins clearly looking for his side to put themselves about early on against Brentford.

    Coventry City 0-0 Brentford

Positive intent from Coventry forward Callum O'Hare, who warms the palms of Brentford keeper David Raya with a well-struck half-volley.

Latches on to the nod down from Maxime Biamou before taking a go from outside the box.

    Easily-held by Raya.

    Coventry City 0-0 Brentford

Can only assume we have some sort of double kit clash to explain why Coventry aren't in their traditional sky blue and white stripes this afternoon, hence the darker blue shirts.

The hosts meanwhile are penalised from an early attacking free-kick as Maxime Biamou is a bit to physical trying to win a header in the Brentford box.

    Coventry City 0-0 Brentford

Early Brentford corner is swung in by Vitaly Janelt to the near post where it's flicked-on.

Cleared by Coventry though under their own crossbar who are alert to the early threat.

Are Brentford still on course for promotion despite their recent set-backs or are they going to miss out to others once more?

Coventry City v Brentford (12:30 GMT)

Hosts Coventry City come into this fixture without a league victory since 27 January, five matches ago, against fellow strugglers Sheffield Wednesday.

The Sky Blues really need to get something out of this clash as they have played more games than the sides immediately below them, Rotherham and Wednesday, who are both in action later.

Brentford have had six days to forget after defeats by Barnsley and QPR on Sunday and Wednesday respectively.

Those two reverses saw them lose out on top spot and fall four points behind leaders Norwich as their incredible 21-match unbeaten run come to an end.

A victory this lunchtime would take the Bees back to within a point of the Canaries, who host Rotherham later.

As mentioned, Brentford are without the 24 league goals from striker Ivan Toney this afternoon.

The whole of their starting line-up this lunchtime have netted 22 times between them in the division this campaign.

Some illustration there of how much of a talisman Toney has been.

Mark Robins makes four changes to his Coventry City side that started against leaders Norwich on Wednesday.

Liam Kelly returns as captain ahead of Matty James, Leo Ostigard replaces Michael Rose in defence, Sam McCallum comes in for Jordan Shipley in midfield and Maxime Biamou comes in for Jamie Allen.

Thomas Frank makes five changes to his Brentford starting line-up from the defeat by London neighbours QPR on Wednesday evening.

He is without leading scorer Ivan Toney due to a minor ankle injury, Saman Ghoddos comes in to the attack in his place.

Ethan Pinnock returns at centre-back in place of Winston Reid and Mads Roerslev starts ahead of Henrik Dalsgaard, Josh Dasilva is replaced by Bryan Mbeumo and Marcus Forss gets the nod ahead of Tarique Fosu.

Coventry City XI: Wilson, Ostigard, Hyam, McFadzean, De Costa, Hamer, Kelly (capt), McCallum, Biamou, Walker, O'Hare.

Subs: Marosi, Park, Rose, Allen, James, Sheaf, Shipley, Bakayoko, Gyokeres.

Brentford XI: Raya, Sorensen, Pinnock, Roerslev, Henry, Janelt, Jensen, Mbeumo, Ghoddos, Forss, Canos.

Subs: Daniels, Dalsgaard, Reid, Bidstrup, Dasilva, Zaburek, Fosu, Gilbert, Pressley.

Here we go again - the football just never stops and the unrelenting nature of the Championship is perhaps more intense than ever this season.

Some wintry sunshine and mild temperatures to start this weekend and hopefully we've got a fixture to warm you too as we begin our afternoon's coverage across the EFL.

Many neutrals' promotion favourites Brentford have hit a bit of a bump in their road to the Premier League in the past week, but now there's a chance for Thomas Frank's side to get back on course.

They travel to Birmingham to face St Andrew's Trillion Trophy Stadium tenants Coventry City, who are in need of a win themselves, but for very different reasons.

It all gets under way in the next 15 minutes, so let's crack on with the build-up.
