More Barcelona pressure as they look to avoid a disaster here. Again. it is just not clicking in the final third.

    Looks like changes are imminent...

    Rayo Vallecano 1-0 Barcelona

Barca think for a millisecond that they're level - and then quickly realise that Frenkie de Jong, who slotted in a cross, was a shoulder offside.

GOAL - Rayo Vallecano 1-0 Barcelonapublished at 62 mins

And there you go! Rayo have taken the lead. The shock is on.

An inspired substitution from Andoni Iraola, who sees a direct and confident run from winger Alvaro Garcia tee up Fran Garcia.

The left wing-back arrives in space at the far post to slot in the opener. His reaction tells you everything! Screaming and beaming.

    Rayo Vallecano 0-0 Barcelona

Oh hello! Warning for Barca. Rayo launch a rare attack and Neto has to save a shot from Fran Garcia.

While it is still 0-0 you never know...

    Rayo Vallecano 0-0 Barcelona

Very headmasterly is this referee. Taking no chat from the benches. This time it is Ronald Koeman who incurs his wrath, shown a yellow card for saying something uncomplimentary.

    Rayo Vallecano 0-0 Barcelona

Not clicking for Barcelona in the final third. Another ball from the left gets behind the Rayo defence, but Messi can't control and again the ball runs to Stole Dimitievski.

    Oh, he was offside anyway.

    Rayo Vallecano 0-0 Barcelona

A change for Rayo. Off comes midfielder Jonathan Montiel, with an eager Alvaro Garcia racing on in his place.

    Rayo Vallecano 0-0 Barcelona

Neat once-touch football from the visitors carves open the Rayo defence. Not quite tika-taka vintage but there were shades of the Barca of old there.

Flicks and tricks from Griezmann and Messi help set Junior Firpo free down the left and his cutback cannons off Griezmann's chest, falling into the Rayo keeper's grateful grasp.

Barca have a different look about them since the break...

    Rayo Vallecano 0-0 Barcelona

A long ball over the Rayo defence puts Lionel Messi through... but he blazes over the bar. It was on his right foot...

  12. Postpublished at 51 mins

    Rayo Vallecano 0-0 Barcelona

Risky! Rayo keeper Stole Dimitrievski comes off way off his line to try and collect, but can only fumble down to Trincao. Luckily the Barca winger's prodded effort hits a Rayo defender and goes back into Dimitrievski's hands.

  13. Postpublished at 50 mins

    Rayo Vallecano 0-0 Barcelona

Barca have some impetus now. Not sure they fancy staying in Madrid for much longer than they have to. Corner...

  14. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 48 mins

    Rayo Vallecano 0-0 Barcelona

    Third time unlucky for Barcelona!

Lionel Messi is always going to shoot from here, using that left foot to try and bend the ball into the far corner.

The Barca great achieves his object of putting it out of the keeper's reach, but he can't get the ball down below the crossbar.

    Rayo Vallecano 0-0 Barcelona

Now then... Barca straight on the front foot and win a free-kick on the edge of the Rayo penalty area.

Trincao has more tricks than Dynamo. He's hauled down on the right side of the area, just outside the line.

Guess who is lining it up?

Vamos! Rayo get the ball rolling again.

Just another 45? Or maybe more?

    Rayo Vallecano 0-0 Barcelona

Here come Barcelona, out early for the second half. Presumably after a rollicking from Ronald Koeman.

Or maybe not, actually. Antoine Griezmann looks pretty happy as the visitors trot out. Not like he's just had the hairdryer treatment.

Rayo might have rode their luck for the two Barca chances which hit the woodwork, but they have certainly not been outclassed.

While Barca have enjoyed almost 70% of the possession, they have lacked fluency in the final third and not cut open the home defence with the ease or threat which Ronald Koeman would like.

    Well. Anyone's game.

I think we know which of the two compact dressing rooms will be much happier.
