West Ham v Sheffield United (18:00 GMT)

West Ham United are vying to complete a league double over Sheffield United in the top flight for the first time since the 1967-68 season.

David Moyes has won all six of his previous home matches against Sheffield United as a manager.

Sheffield United have only won one of their last 12 away games against West Ham in all competitions.

    West Ham United

West Ham boss David Moyes: "We missed Michail Antonio's goals, him leading the line and his power and pace. He just did not quite make it despite training early in the week and was not there with the fitness test today.

"Focus on trying to win this game and don't think about too much what happens after. If you play well it gives you a chance of winning and hopefully we can do that.

"Every game is so important, it makes the job much harder when you don't win. The teams at the bottom of the table are in good form and difficult to play against. I hope we can put up a good show."

Callum Wilson's injury is a big blow to Newcastle but at least they have a bit of breathing space above the bottom three after their wins over Everton and Southampton.

Chelsea look solid under new boss Thomas Tuchel, so I am backing them to get another clean sheet here. He is still working out how to get the best out of his attackers but I think they will find a way through the Magpies.

    Prediction: 2-0

Kindergarten Klopp: The corner flags were chosen as designated goal celebration zones during the first consolidated football summit in 1883 (when rules on handball and offside were agreed upon). But much like the handball and offside rules, no one really knows what they're doing now.

West Ham v Sheffield United (18:00 GMT)

    Sheffield United

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder: "We just have to control what we can do which is get a result tonight against a team bang in form. The wins in the Cup have done us the world of good.

"John Fleck was taken ill on Sunday morning and is having a test back in Sheffield so he did not make the trip down. he probably has did not play his best early on but improved recently.

"We need to keep a clean sheet and score the first goal, we have goals in us the way we play but the expected goals (xG) is not as good as what it should have been. Pundits talk about the big moments and we just need to take the opportunities.

"We went to Old Trafford about two weeks ago and took the couple of moments we had, we need to be that way. West Ham had a difficult season last season but our players are under no illusions what they have to do from now until the end of the season."

  10. Is Moyes back to his best?published at 17:33 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2021

West Ham v Sheffield United (18:00 GMT)

It says everything about the vast improvement West Ham have made under David Moyes that there was a sense of disappointment around both the result and performance in Saturday's 0-0 draw at Fulham.

Had they won at Craven Cottage, the Hammers would have moved up to fourth, a position they occupied for a couple of days last month but one the club have only matched or bettered by season's end once in their entire history - the 1985-86 season when they finished third under John Lyall.

Instead, West Ham's supporters can console themselves with the knowledge their team have their highest points tally after 23 games since that memorable 80s campaign - and have now matched the 39 they accumulated in the whole of last season.

Moyes deserves much of the credit for this... Read more here.

    Chelsea v Newcastle (20:00 GMT)

Chelsea have won 18 of their past 25 Premier League home matches against Newcastle.

Newcastle have lost seven successive top-flight games at Stamford Bridge, scoring three goals and conceding 18.

Olivier Giroud scored eight goals in his first six Premier League appearances against Newcastle while at Arsenal but has failed to add to that tally in seven subsequent league matches against them.

Sheffield United keep winning in the FA Cup and they have been really competitive in the Premier League even when they've lost.

The Blades will put up a fight this time too, I'm sure, but West Ham are in the top six for a reason. The Hammers look confident at the moment and, if they play like they can do, they will win.

When Tomas Soucek was sent off in injury time against Fulham last weekend, West Ham United manager David Moyes and the club's fans were baffled by the decision - but they would also have been seriously concerned about the consequences of it.

He has become one of the key players - perhaps the key player - in a transformation that has taken West Ham to sixth in the Premier League and the realistic prospect of Champions League qualification. He has become a fans' favourite, working well alongside Declan Rice, and brings defensive solidity, aggression and a potent attacking presence.

  18. Can West Ham overtake Liverpool?published at 17:15 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2021

West Ham v Sheffield United (18:00 GMT)

West Ham's total of 39 points is their highest at this stage of a top-flight campaign for 35 years.

They are unbeaten in their past 19 league games against sides in the bottom half too, winning 11 of those matches.

It means they go into this match as firm favourites and could jump up to fourth place, overtaking defending champions Liverpool, with a win tonight.

European football qualification is on the cards and given West Ham's season so far, you wouldn't be too surprised if they secured it...

  19. Bruce on 'vile' online abusepublished at 17:12 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2021

    Chelsea v Newcastle (20:00 GMT)

Newcastle manager Steve Bruce revealed he had received "vile" online death threats with someone "saying they hope I die of Covid".

It comes after numerous football governing bodies raised concerns to Twitter and Facebook over online abuse.

The 60-year-old, who does not use social media, was told by his children that he had been targeted.

Bruce said: "Some of the stuff I've had has been obscene. You feel the hatred and something has to be done.

"I don't go on (social media), but of course people close to me do and they are sensitive towards their father, of course. Yep, I've had that to deal with.

"We've got to police it better and there are some vulnerable people out there. When I see the nature of some of it, it's totally and utterly vile."
