For so long it wasn't Ronaldo's night, but now, suddenly, it is.

    Football's a funny game.

He is now the record goalscorer in men's international football with 110 for his country.

But knowing him, he won't be a happy camper - he's after a win.

    Ronaldo. There's the record.

It's a classic Ronaldo big-leap-and-pump header after a sumptuous Goncalo Guedes cross.

    Ronaldo...Bazunu with the save!

Fairly comfortable for him, but he was still up to the task.

This is a night Ronaldo will want to forget in a hurry.

    Ten minutes left.

Matt Doherty has been through the wars, but he's still there, putting the hard yards in.

His latest clearance falls to Andre Silva, however, but the striker's acrobatic effort is smashed well over.

Jota picks up his head and spots Ronaldo peeling off to the back post, but he's overhit his cross.

Ronaldo then engages in a frank exchange of views with Seamus Coleman.

You don't want to mess with a man from Killybegs, Ronny.

    How has he missed?!

Cristiano Ronaldo peels off his man and finds space on the left. His cross finds Bernardo Silva at the far post.

The Manchester City man - who's been lively in this second half - skips past a lunging Matt Doherty but skies his shot from no more than six yards.

Let-offs don't come much bigger than that. No, sir.

    ANOTHER chance for Aaron Connolly.

It starts with Josh Cullen charging down Cristiano Ronaldo's speculative effort from distance.

Connolly links up with Adam Idah, who pops down the left wing. He lifts his head to see John Egan (!) in the box, who cushions a header for Connolly, but it goes wide.

There is a suggestion that Connolly was fouled as he went to take the shot, but VAR thought otherwise after a quick check.
