Slovakia are 2-0 up against Cyprus in Group H where Croatia are also 2-0 up against Slovenia and sit top of that group ahead of Russia on goal difference.

Miralem Pjanic scored a penalty for his side Bosnia-Herzegovina to draw level with Kazakhstan in Group D.

And Faroe Islands are 2-1 up against Moldova in Group F's minnow-off.

Oh and the Netherlands are now 5-0 up against Turkey thanks to Guus Til.

Apart from the Netherlands, most of those results are really of no consequence in relation to World Cup qualification.

I'll never understand this. So many Irish goals come from corners, but they play this short and don't get it into the box. Serbia counter and Gavin Bazunu is needed to save Ireland again.

One of the few times Ireland send numbers forward Serbia counter and Nemanja Radonjic is denied twice by a Gavin Bazunu double save. Heroic from the Irish teenager.

If you want an indication of the difference in calibre of the teams, that double sub was a Real Madrid and Benfica player on for two Serie A players.

Ireland's change a few minutes ago was West Brom and Wycombe for Anderlecht and St Mirren.

Excellent defending by full debutant Andrew Omobamidele to tackle Dusan Vlahovic in the box.

Adam Idah is doing an excellent job in closing the keeper and defenders down - in the rare times it's in that area of the pitch.
