Alexander Sorloth has put Norway 4-1 up against Gibraltar and in Denmark Thomas Delaney has scored his side's fourth goal against Israel. Denmark remain unbeaten in their group and have scored a quite ridiculous 21 goals in six games.

Frustrating for the Irish. Adam Idah closes down the Serbia keeper and forces him into a hurried clearance. When he ball comes back to Idah he tries to find Jeff Hendrick who is offside.

Aleksandar Mitrovic throws himself at a left-wing cross and pokes it towards goal and Bazunu reacts quickly to turn it over the bar.

Callum Robinson, who didn't have the legs to play the full game after recovering from Covid, replaces Alan Browne. A positive change from Stephen Kenny.

The Atletico Madrid striker doubles his tally and France's advantage, finishing from the tightest of angles after running onto Leo Dubois' square ball.

Gavin Bazunu is keeping Ireland in this. Dusan Tadic plays a lovely through ball to Filip Djuricic, who ghosts in behind the Irish defence. He cuts it back for Aleksandar Mitrovic, whose first-time shot is saved by Bazunu's legs.

James McClean whips in a deep cross from the left. Browne is in acres of space in the box at the far post but fails to trap the ball with his toe and it rolls out for a goal-kick.

Ireland try to play their way out from the back. The passing round the box is good but when they try to go forward through Matt Doherty it breaks down on the halfway line.

The Irish break down the right with Matt Doherty playing a one-two but then the pass to Adam Idah is overhit.

A bright start for the Republic nonetheless.

YELLOW CARD

Republic of Ireland midfielder Alan Brown is booked for leaving his arm in a Serbian face and will be banned for their game next month against Azerbaijan.

Now Adam Idah swings for the ball but it's cut out just before it reaches him... and the offside flag goes up.

A nice Matt Doherty run down the right gets everyone excited. Adam Idah can't get the ball under control and it's bicycle-kicked away.
